Somebody remind me: why is Infiniti still making the G, when it's been selling the Q50 for awhile now?

They renamed the G into the Q40, because people were getting too damn confused.

But isn't the Q50 its replacement?

Yup, but instead of canning the G entirely they kept selling it at the same time.
Because every brand, whenever they bring out a new model, still sells the old one at the same time.

Same reason BMW is making a 3 Series and a 4 Series Gran Coupe.

Dumbest idea ever, by the way, to name every car Q. WTF, Nissan? Lets confuse our buyers a bit. And what do the numbers even mean? At least they used to denote engine displacement, but I don't know what the new numbers denote.

For shits and giggles?

EXACTLY

Because WATcar. Its not enough for you to just hear about our products, we want you in a state of complete confusion, such that you don't know which car from what! Come for a sporty coupe, leave with a giant SUV! they're both 'Q' cars, right? Of course they are.
We all float down here...

The new numbers is how many engineers it takes at Infiniti to screw in a lightbulb.
