I'VE NEVER TAKEN A SIP OF ALCOHOL. Do I have to hand in my oppo card or am I good?

I don't know, neither have I. I always though I was one of the few here that didn't. I guess not.

Just smoke some bud and don't let other people's opinions get to you. Gotta stay balanced.

We all have those days, having a drink or two to mellow out is fine. Having several everyday to cope not a good plan. Not saying you would do this, but I've seen too many people take that route when they are down. We are all kind of family here on Oppo so this is me looking out for you. :)

Don't worry man...tomorrow is a new day.

I've just given up cold-turkey since November. It can be rough at times, so if you have an addictive personality, don't do it.

It's just rough man. I'm really having a tough time at work and I'm not even making enough to support me and my wife. It's gettin really hard to keep my head up...

Forget the Hulk. Brian and Stereotypical, you guys have seriously never even had a sip? Wow. I'm not a big drinker by any stretch of the imagination but I really do enjoy the occasional wine with dinner, etc. That and I've, without a doubt, had some really awesome times drinking more than I should haha!

Still, I commend you two. Even if I was anti-alcohol I still feel like I'd have gotten drunk at some point just to see what the big deal was.

Taking up drinking would be the worst life decision you could ever make.

I hear you. You are newly married and you feel like you should be "the provider" and because the economy sucks, which is totally beyond your control BTW, you have some feeling is inadequacy and you are down on your self. It seems you have a pretty great wife and as long as she knows you love her and you are doing your best you two will be fine. But if you fall too deep into a depression and start drinking or whatever she is going to feel isolated which is just going to compound your problems. Money struggles suck, but I think the two of you should sit down and have an honest financial conversation. No judgement, just numbers, figure out exactly how much is coming in and going out. Give every dollar a name. Then find ways to make small cuts to save. I'm not saying you need to live off of Ramen and PB&J but food costs are huge, with not much skill you can make nice meals at home with leftovers for a few days. Crockpots are awesome. Maybe cut back on the cable TV for a bit. Little things here and there make big differences in the long run. When my wife was 4 months pregnant she had some health problems and had to stop working. I didnt expect to take an income hit that soon. We had to make some adjustments. Stay strong for yourself and your wife. Don't keep it bottled up, come here to vent you know we are all here to help.

Thank you Tom. And I'm not even sure where we'd cut that much to be honest. We're still living with her parents and most things like that are taken care of. And maybe that's the problem. If I could afford a place for us I'd feel better about it.

No worries man. I understand how you feel when my wife and I were engaged we lived with her dad, and saved up so we can get a house. It sucks for the ego but it's better for the wallet.

for my 21st birthday, i had a coke, and some enchiladas.

I dont drink, and the most ive ever had was some taste sips for when i was baking some brownies that required tequila. And honestly, it was gross. I find it all gross to be honest.

Yeah buddy!

My coworkers are always trying to get me to go drink. Never! Why waste so much cash in alcohol when i can buy car parts!

Its darn near impossible these days to find anyone who doesnt drink. and smoke weed for that matter, but thats another story.

At least you understand. I tell my friends who drink, and they are like "whuuu, car parts.... sheesh"

Think of how much people spend on weed and beer. They could afford like M3's if they stopped.

That's why I don't do either! I've seen my roommate blow his entire life savings on weed. It's hilarious/sad.

I know it may be getting repetitive, but I agree with the rest just don't. Though it may help ease you in the now, it won't do you any good to overcome this situation. Keep your head up and just remember, you have all of us.
