DavesAddiction's comment and the thread !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! got me thinking. If you add up all the values (KBB, NADA, I don't care) of your current stable, what kind of worth are you sitting on?
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I have three vehicles: A 2007 Focus SES currently worth $6500, a 1995 Dakota SLT 4x4 worth $4000, and a 1987 Saab 900 that is currently worthless (as far as book value goes). My stable is worth $10,500; a rather paltry sum.
So tell us, what is your stable's worth?

What's scrap metal going for these days?
![]() 02/06/2014 at 11:50 |

As far as KBB retail, and the things that are actually mine, (not counting the vintage trucks and cars and all that crap tht I might be titled on and then again might not, depending on the old man's thoughts the day he bought things) maybe $30k. 2005 C6, and a 1996 Chevy C1500.

I got $60 bucks for my old C900 shell a couple years ago, so not much?

Whats a 1976 Datsun 280z worth ? With and without the 5.3 liter swapped in ?

$100 million

My Landy - maybe $10k-12k. Benz: maybe $2-3k. Ranchero - slightly above scrap ($600-$800). Various parts to go in said Ranchero so far - $400 or so. Call it $14k total, I suppose.
![]() 02/06/2014 at 11:51 |

Then about 100$. Still love both of em more than they love me. Well I think the Audi loves me. I'm pretty sure the Jetta is just waiting for the right moment to kill me for real.

Five vehicles = $60K (well, there's six but one is a parts car)
![]() 02/06/2014 at 11:54 |

Depends, the appraiser hasn't come by to give me an official value on the Z yet, but I would say between the two cars and motorcycle right now it would be somewhere around $52,000+/-.
Probably around $27,000 for the wife's BRZ with it's packages, hoping for an appraisal of $20,000 on the 240Z (still less than I have in it, just hoping they me part way), and about $6,000 for the motorcycle. I just recently let my other bikes and cars go. The S2000 would have added a bit, but I needed to sell it to help fund the 240Z.

Depends on who's asking. I think my Tipo doesn't even have a table value anymore, but I've been offered 12.500 plus a bike and 15.000 on the spot plus 5 thousand later on by a couple fans of the model.
![]() 02/06/2014 at 11:57 |

Well, let's see!! From oldest to newest, then totaled. I'll use NADA values because I have to for the 68 Montego so I'll keep it consistent. (also, I'll use average retail for the Montego and Clean Retail for the other 2)
68 Mercury Montego: $10,787
07 Mercury Milan V6: $9,300
08 Jeep Commander Sport 4x4: $14,850
Total Worth: $34,937
And the wife drives the most expensive...isn't that how it goes? lol

1991 Audi 80 quattro: $3,600 (It actually tripled in worth as of 01-01-2014, lol)
1994 Ford F-150: $1,700 (It's been ridden hard and put away wet)
1978 Porsche 924: $700
So...$6k for the whole stable.
Yep. That's impressive, lol.

2008 Saturn Astra XR 5-door: $8,356
2002 SVT Focus: $3,269

Total: $13,856
![]() 02/06/2014 at 12:01 |

2 cars, 2 motorcycles, probably $42k amongst the group. Probably the highest 1-time total value of my vehicles in my life.

Well, KBB is worthless for my DD, its saying $4000, but I could get $7000 for it right this minute. The wife's car says 18.660, which is on the low side of fair. I've seen people sell their sportwagen TDI manuals with more mileage for $20,000. We were offered $21,500 from the dealer about 6000 miles ago. so.
KBB - 22660
True* value - $27,000
*what I would actually get for them

I've got two cars.
My 1999 ML320, probably around 3000 dollars or less with over 200k miles, and it's "well loved" condition.
My 82 Porsche 924 which I bought for 500 bucks, and without brake lines is probably worthless. It may be worth 1k if I fix it and clean it up nice. It's my project car.
So I'd say my stable is worth under 3.5k...
![]() 02/06/2014 at 12:04 |
|
My Malibu is roughly $2500 while the S420 should be $5500-6000 so $8500 for both. I'm saving up to buy either a Cayman S or 997 Carrera S sometime in the next three years which is about the time it should take me to scour the money together. Then my garage will be about four times as valuable lol.

I'd drive the Jeep in a heart beat. It's a REALLY nice truck. It sincerely makes her 06 liberty she had before it look like a pile of crap on wheels, bad wheels.
But she has a 3 mile commute to work and I have a 26 mile commute. That's why I drive a Milan lol 28 highway + V6 makes me happy enough. I have the Montego for fun so it's not a big deal. The Milan was purchased solely for the intention of commuting. If I didn't have the Montego I'd have to have something more fun though.
She wants to go full on TRUCK YEAH with the Commander too haha. Bigger Tires, Lift, Grille Guard, Aux lights.

2003 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro - $5000
2006 Audi A4 1.8T Cabriolet - $10000
8 rings, 15 grand.
![]() 02/06/2014 at 12:05 |

According to the math:
The F-150 is likely about $4500, and the trailer is $2300
The Z4 is likely still worth about $20,000
The Mini is for all intents and purposes new, $27,000
I could likely get $3000 for the Triumph, and $5000 for the waverunner and trailer.
So just north of $62,000.

You mean, economy car that you bought for about $2,500 under retail value and depreciation sucks so bad that now you owe more than it's worth (too much more that your not willing to add that to another loan for a bigger vehicle) sitting next to the work horse truck that's really hard to nail down a price because the 5.9L Magnum wasn't offered on the manual? Ha ha yea...it's been a long couple of weeks. Oh! And the truck isn't running right now. Trying to turn it on and all I got was a series of fast clicks and then a few days later, dead battery. I love Alaskan winter!
![]() 02/06/2014 at 12:08 |

If we are going by resale value about 20,000$ for the BRZ and no idea on the RSTi, and about 1000$ on my 88 F-Super Duty.
![]() 02/06/2014 at 12:09 |

Same reasons here, too. She has a 3 mile commute, mine is 18 one way. I would sure love to get rid of this Focus though; it is by and large the most agitating vehicle I've ever owned, and I had a 1987 Cavalier.
![]() 02/06/2014 at 12:10 |
|
I have a Cavalier. It is worth $2,721 according to the Canadian Black Book. That's pretty good seeing as I paid that much for it 4 years ago. Depreciation: 0

My fleet- Dint have current appraisals, and the books are way under local market.
1998 Camaro SS T-Top 6sp 62k miles - $9000.
1968 Camaro RS/SS all #s matching drivetrain fully restored - $40,000
1933 Ford Pickup Steet Rod all original steel, Chevy running gear. Paint is ok good driver - $30,000
So grand total of $79,000
![]() 02/06/2014 at 12:13 |

Wow that's pretty much spot on! We bought the Focus way below book, but are now about $2500 upside down. Fucking road trips and shitty market!

2007 Chrysler 300 touring - $11,000
1986 Porsche 944 (N/A) - It's in fair condition so about $7,000 according to nada
1986 Honda Accord LXi - In pretty crappy condition but according to nada low is $2,100, so let's cut that in half, to $1,000
So, altogether mine is worth about $19,000
![]() 02/06/2014 at 12:21 |

Not sure of the current value, but the "stable" is a 2013 mustang GT 6mt and a 2013 odyssey. I guess combined purchase price was about $67k
![]() 02/06/2014 at 12:23 |

~$5k based on what I paid minus a bit of depreciation.

Haven't done the push-start yet. Buddy of mine told me (before the battery died) that it was probably the solenoid. Haven't had a chance to replace it yet. I'm gonna try jumping it first (see if the battery was just too dead to start it) and if that doesn't work, I'll replace the solenoid (I hear that it's an under $50 part and easy to replace).
![]() 02/06/2014 at 12:30 |

Judging by your diagnosis, I'd say it's the battery. Probably too cold to get the requisite cranking amps

1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport, 235k miles: $2000 is generous
2004 Yamaha FZ6, 40k miles: $2000 is generous
2000 something covered 8x10 trailer: $1200 is generous
Grand total of $5200 and paying about $600/year for insurance.

that garage is awesome - not the cars mind you the building.
![]() 02/06/2014 at 12:34 |

What's weird (and something I never knew existed until coming to Alaska) is that we have cold start batteries up here. Apparently they have a higher output to help with cold starting your engine (especially since I have the Magnum V8 and it sits outside all night).
![]() 02/06/2014 at 12:36 |

Really? I always thought they were functional little things, boring, but functional.
I didn't consider them for size reasons when I was shopping. I went straight across the line for the best deal I could get and shopped Fusion, Milan, MKZ.
![]() 02/06/2014 at 12:42 |

It would have been better if we didn't buy the specific model we did. I had a MY 2000 Zetec equipped manual ZX3 that was a little rocketship. This one is the PZEV "California emissions" 2.0 automatic. Being 6k above sea level, I imagine I'm putting less than 80 hp down. It's sluggish and can barely get out of its own way
Also the seats are uncomfortable as fuck and it has the standard Focus vibration problem

2003 Mustang: I would guess somewhere around 5k since the paint is ruined but it is well maintained mechanically (Damn Phoenix sun)
1987 Porsche 944 NA: Since I finished my full restoration I would say probably about 7k.
2000 Ford Explorer: I got offered $200 for it for the scrap value...

Bought it in Fort Collins. It was a "need it now" kinda deal
The wife had just gotten a new job and couldn't drive stick at the time because of a knee injury. So we needed to buy her a car since her old truck took a big, transmission-shaped shit in the driveway. Tried to get her in a Mustang GT, couldn't get the financing straight. She hated the V6 Mustang so somehow we bought this Focus. Then she foisted it on me

8000 liters. 2.12 pints in a liter, so 8000*2.12=16960 pints. A pint of good old (real) maple syrup is going for about 8 bucks at the local King Soopers when I checked this weekend. 16960 pts at 8 dollars/pt - $135,680. Conclusion? Convert everything you own to maple syrup

That's pretty much the plan, yeah. The wife doesn't want kids or a big house, so our "forever home" consists of a 4 bay double-height garage, a 4 stall barn, and just enough house for the two of us
![]() 02/06/2014 at 13:47 |

Well, if that's your plan, cool. Glad it's working out for you.
I'm shopping for a 4 bedroom. Have a 1 year old and another will be planned. Then 1 guest room. Our 3 bed feels so tiny with the baby. I swear for being so small, they take up a ton of space!
This is also part of the reasoning that I made sure to buy a classic car with more than 2 seats lol.
