Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd. expanded a recall on Wednesday to cover most of its sports cars built since late 2007 after discovering a Chinese sub-supplier was using counterfeit plastic material in a part supplied to the British luxury sports carmaker.....
Aston Martin found that Shenzhen Kexiang Mould Tool Co Limited, a Chinese subcontractor that moulds the affected accelerator pedal arms, was using counterfeit DuPont plastic material, according to documents filed with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The material was supplied by Synthetic Plastic Raw Material Co Ltd of Dongguan, according to the documents.
The cars are being recalled from model years 2008 through 2014 because the accelerator pedal arm may break, increasing the risk of a crash, according to the NHTSA documents.

I would have thought that Aston Martin, you know, being upmarket and all, would not have cut costs by getting cheap made in china parts. I guess not. Aston is saying they will move parts production back to England shortly. Probably for the best. That's pretty embarrassing, even if your just a regular consumer brand. It must be pretty tough to stomach for a luxury maker like Aston.

nah, we get recalls for Aston Martin all the time dude. All brands put them out weekly to bi weekly. Most of the time they are small things like software or other small things. Most don't make it to any type of a news source. When the Rapides came out, we had issue with the housing on the block where the engine speed sensor sat in. We had brand new cars onto a body off chassis state all the time

This was my thought. Someone yesterday that they had never heard of a special car like the one-77 but i assumed that I'm sure low production cars have them but it's just not a news story like a massive Camry recall is
