...and North today. Its an absolutely incredible road. And since my cell phone shots (should've brought the GoPro) turned out terrible, I decided to test the limits of PicasaWeb's editing tools.

Kick ass.

Great pics, too.

Forgive my ignorance, is that a 240 or 260? Cuz the ass looks more 260....

Oh my god that car. I would kill for one! Great shots, by the way. I love the first picture.

Thanks! A 240. But don't feel ignorant, they're almost impossible to tell apart these days since everyone swaps 240 bumpers onto any the 60s and 80s. From the body, there's almost no other way to know.

How do you like the car and what is all done? I have been eyeing them for a good while

I was super lucky to get one this nice. And I'm glad you like the photos, I decided to process them to death for once - I usually just adjust contrast and brightness and call it good.

Well they turned out really well! Usually I don't like super processed photos but they work great in this application. Now that I look at it more, the last picture is awesome too. The contrast of the blurry hills with the sharp outline of the car is really cool.

I'm eyeing these too. If a decent one ever pops up in my area, I'd have to say goodbye to my Baja Bug.

Absolutely love it. Its shockingly practical with a hatchback - I've fit a surfboard, college stuff, baffling amounts of beer. The handling is probably like nothing you've ever experienced due to lack of power steering, and lightness that can only be achieved by early 70s disregard for safety. Engine sound is glorious. Pedal placement is fantastic, and I'm a huge fan of the classic massive wooden steering wheel. Reliability has been pretty good so far (for a car twice my age) - I've replaced a headlight harness, brake booster, alternator in a year. And gas mileage seems to be around 20 no matter how hard I abuse it. Insurance sees it as an "old car" rather than as a "sports car" so its pretty reasonable.

Honest bads: cold-blooded as hell. It takes an honest 7+ minutes to go from cold to warm (thanks massive iron straight 6), so short drives around town feel shitty. Power is not amazing by today's standards, but it'll easily get into licence losing speeds. Parts are very available compared to Alfas or weird stuff like that, but its hard not to be jealous of ubiquitous GM, Ford, and MOPAR parts from the same era. Shifter is nothing special.

Wrap up: get one if you want a relatively practical classic, and are willing to learn some basic maintenance. Don't get it (stock) if you're looking for something to whomp people after red lights.

Right, Mods: almost all previous owner. Slight drop (maybe an inch, inch and a half), 5 speed, upgraded to 60A alternator, and added a headlight harness. Other than that, very stock.

I so badly want my next car to be a Baja Z. Slight lift, dirt tires, rally lights, some tasteful brushguard...

Thanks! Yeah, they each kinda picked up their own character as I played with the editing tools.

Wow. A Z car, a true classic. Awesome. Forgive my lack of knowledge, is it a 204Z or some other number Z?

240z, so still 2.4 L with round-top carbs. The 260 and 280 look almost identical with progressively larger bumpers (usually now removed and switched to 240 style bumpers).
