I was surprised to see that Ford !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! the 2014 Fiesta ST as having an automatic version that's 22 lbs heavier.

I think it'd make more sense to also offer an automatic or DCT in both the Fiesta ST and Focus ST to increase sales, though I personally prefer the 6-speed manual and DD a regular 5-speed Focus myself.

As if you needed another reason to get the manual...

the danger with the DCT is that it could kill the stick in the long run

when the choice is between the stick and a slushbox then a lot of people will get the stick, even if the slushbox is a super premium slushbox that's nearly as quick as a DCT

but once a DCT is offered it could get super popular and hurt stick sales, which could lead to the death of the stick.

i hope cars like the Fiesta ST and BRZ never get a DCT. that way the stick will survive in these cars for sure. i'm worried that the stick will eventually be killed off from all 911 models. DCT take rates are getting higher and higher for expensive cars. hopefully the stick never dies in the affordable sports cars

I think I remember Ford accidentally including a blurb about the "Explorer SHO" on their website a few years back; that materialized as the Explorer Sport. Maybe an automatic Fiesta ST is in the cards?

Hatchback is lighter than the sedan.

Why do they even sell the sedan?

Where does the extra 200 lbs on the ST come from? I mean there's some more stuff under the hood and it has a spoiler and maybe some heavier bumper/skirt pieces, but does that all really add up to 200?

That's the base curb weight that's listed, i.e. for a base Fiesta S hatchback. The ST has more amenities than the bare-bones S, so that probably makes up the rest of the weight difference between the two models once you've accounted for the ST's go-fast and look-fast bits.
