What would it be? For me, the Porsche 914. Or Lotus Europa. But my opinion changes a lot. The Lotus because, British MR goodness, and the 914 because... It strikes a chord with me. I have no clue what is up with the 914, but dear god I love it.
In this color, too.

Because fuck it why not?
![]() 02/04/2014 at 17:00 |

It would probably be something actually able to carry people and cargo. So, not a Lotus.

A 1988 e24. Wait...already do.

And it is (kinda) logical as a DD with the inline 6 for mpgs!

914 - a face only a mother could love.

I DD a 1.7 914 for a little while. All depends on how many groceries you have to bring home. It was fun though

You lucky bastard. How much did you pick it up for?

Cliché answer? Yes.
Wrong answer? Hell no.

YES. That Ferrari sticker on the window, its perfect.

it was running and needed about 10 hours of rocker work, I think I paid $1200. It was this color, these rims

I am off to commence my 914 hunting. I think is an orange one about three hours away actually..... o.o

do it, but just take my advice and buy a $1000 beater for errands. Something wagon, and then you will be more than happy in life

Its like a Jensen Interceptor. With a long butt.

My DD (when it's not in the shop) is my 73 240Z. It's entire purpose is to try to be my perfect DD and still fun enough to want to drive on the weekend.
If I could have any other car to be an additional DD and it was classic, it would be a 911. Because.
![]() 02/04/2014 at 17:20 |

Definitely a KGC10 Skyline
![]() 02/04/2014 at 17:21 |

Jag XK120
or perhaps....
Aston Martin DB5
I think I'm having a crisis........
![]() 02/04/2014 at 17:21 |

I already do.
![]() 02/04/2014 at 17:22 |

The answer is always Corvair.
![]() 02/04/2014 at 17:22 |

I need modern reliability in my DD so it'd have to be something with a swap. I wouldn't want to ruin a collectable piece of machinery doing yet another V8 swap so I'd take something like a Country Squire and drop in a Mustang drive line from the last 5 years.
![]() 02/04/2014 at 17:25 |

It's supposed to be a pic of a 65 Mustang Convertible
![]() 02/04/2014 at 17:29 |

Definitely a Lotus Elan S4 or Elan +2!!!!!
![]() 02/04/2014 at 17:30 |

Id say a classic 911, orrr a AW11 MR2
![]() 02/04/2014 at 17:30 |

39 Delahaye

This is hard – 2002tii, Volvo P1800, Honda 1300 Coupe 9... but I think since I usually don't drive, and when I do, it's on the appallingly poor roads in Texas... Citroen DS 23.

Loads :) most fairly attainable
At the moment, the most likely seems to be a Rover P6 V8, and Alfetta saloon, a Triumph Toledo or my Spitfire 6 project.
Other candidates are a GTV6, an Alfa 6, an Alfasud Sprint, an SD1, a Fulvia, a Dolomite Sprint, a TR6, a Biturbo, an XJC, an X1/9, a Murena, an MGB GT V8, a Scimitar, a Hillman Imp, a Fiat Dino or a Corvair.
I'll daily drive anything :) if only just to prove whether it can or can't be done
![]() 02/04/2014 at 18:17 |

This is quite the difficult question... I already DD a classic (1976 Alfa Romeo Spider) but I don't think I'd choose it if I could pick anything! I don't know if I can even pick one...
The 300SL Gullwing is up there, along with an Alfa Romeo Giulia Wagon, Porsche 911 SWB, Talbot Lago T150 CSS, Ferrari 308, Ferrari 400i, Maserati 5300, Iso Grifo, ... I'm giving up

I am heavily considering (...checking Craigslist all the time like a tard) a 911SC.
1980s. Awesomemobile.
![]() 02/04/2014 at 19:36 |

Porsche 930
or BMW 507
![]() 02/04/2014 at 19:39 |
|
Ooooh, this is a hard one! There are so many great options. I have an inclination to keep things simple, so I would probably choose this:
Assuming it's a manual, I want a 1960 Corvette just like that with no alterations.
However, if I'm feeling more adventurous, it's gonna have to be an 8C like this:
![]() 02/04/2014 at 20:02 |

Miura. 67 Corvette 427. 79 Blazer. Wagoneer... Without giving it too much thought, those would be my choices, in that order.

I'd like to DD a closet.
![]() 02/04/2014 at 20:23 |

The Corvette. Totally the Corvette.
![]() 02/04/2014 at 20:23 |

I would buy the Riviera just for the headlights.

The 507. Unless you can find a Street Legal 930 K3.
![]() 02/04/2014 at 20:35 |

I would love to have one while I'm still in college just so I can blow minds by DD'ing it. I'd love to be able to ask a girl out to lunch or something, and then pick her up with this while dressed like the model year. I'm not even interested in doing so for the possibility of sex (bonus!) but rather just for the sheer novelty of it all.
Such a pretty car. I rather enjoy this final refinement of the '58 face-lift over the Bill Mitchell changes made for '61 and '62. The choice of chrome removal on those and the lack of contrasting side-coves as an option in '62 were tasteless alterations that upset the car's visual balance.

Think of the joy you would bring to the world driving it around! They look like automotive clouds, all cute and puffy and V-12ey.

It'd Be a 1957 or 1958 Chevy 210 BelAir Convertible, with a Tremec 5-speed swap, mated to 396Cu-In engine, that has been retrofitted in to a SOHC layout, with 5 valves per cylinder. Tuned for torque, of course!
Also, it'd have 4 wheel disc brakes, upgraded (but not stiffened, needs to be floaty but firm!) suspension, and inside, it'd have nice bucket seats.
Paint wise, it'd be Candy Pink, with a white top, white walls, white interior, and some gold accents to compliment the acres of chrome!
So this, basically!

V12 Clouds.... Yes.

Volvo P1800 shooting break. Or a 122 Amazon Wagon if you'll accept that as a "classic car"

We had the same answer.
![]() 02/04/2014 at 22:44 |

Well technically it's a classic according to the US government
![]() 02/04/2014 at 23:27 |

It's my Dad's, in the garage; but One Day....
My answer will always be 911. Maybe this summer I'll finally get to live the dream!

Dino 246 GTS, in white.
![]() 02/05/2014 at 17:45 |

DD has to be somewhat reliable...but still fun...and I also have to pick something I haven't seen someone else pick...
Pagoda roof SL. Straight six droptop Merc with a manual!
![]() 02/05/2014 at 17:47 |
|
Oh good choice! Someone in my neighborhood DD's a 280SL. Its gorgeous.
![]() 02/05/2014 at 17:54 |

There was one at C&C Austin last month, and it mooned me with it's classy lines...Doesn't look old even after all this time.
![]() 02/05/2014 at 21:42 |

You had me until bucket seats. The one thing I wish modern family barges offered is bench seats.
![]() 02/05/2014 at 21:45 |

Ok then, column shifted 5 speed auto, with a special adjustable bench, that contours in to a low-slung bucket at a touch of a button!
![]() 02/06/2014 at 20:58 |

I dd this. Probably not the best car for college, but it's the only one I got.
![]() 02/07/2014 at 15:39 |

Mine. 1968 Mercury Montego MX. Weather and lack of heat/ac don't allow for that though lol. (and the driver's side window isn't a fan of being closed....and there's no defroster...and the wipers suck...)
![]() 02/07/2014 at 16:48 |

Shes beautiful! What do you do for the winter, you have a beater?
![]() 02/07/2014 at 17:01 |

Ha, no I have a Daily Driver!
I have an 07 Mercury Milan V6 (I sense a theme....) I DD and this is my fun car. She' tucked nicely into the garage for the winter. Waiting to roar this spring.
![]() 02/11/2014 at 16:54 |

This. Granted, it's been updated with LS power, a 6-speed, and some comfy Corbeau GTS II seats... But dammit it's fun!
