This one's pretty short/sweet, let's see where alliance lies amongst the ranks of Oppo. Also I thought I'd trow in this (very incomplete) poll with a handful of games that may or may not be popular 'round here, just to see what happens. What do y'all feel about the current state of racing sims? Even though we've had the release of a couple of huge titles I feel like not much is going on (maybe because I didn't buy any of these said titles).

I want a new Forza or GT with the car selection of GT2, that used car section was one of the best things ever! Want to build a '92 Camry wagon race car? Sure, why not?!

This one is tough. I use iracing for all of my oval fixes because no console game has come close lately for good stock car racing. I love Forza 4 for the variety of cars and the paint shop in game to create great replicas. Forza is my go to console racing game.

You forgot Live for Speed and Assetto Corsa, Two very good racing games for PC.

After playing GT3/4/5 and FM3/Horizon, I'd give it to Forza since they have a higher-quality casual racing game than Gran Turismo (iRacing is for true simulation). Forza's cars have fully-detailed interiors versus GT's sloppy low-poly imports, the engines sound more life-like, and Forza had a semi-open world casual game that I enjoyed. Also, there's actual customization in Forza which is sad that GT's behind the ball since Need for Speed Underground's introduction to console car customizing.
However, I choose Mario Kart because Original Drifting with Yoshi.

That was the coolest part of the GT series right there. The used cars were cooler than new ones!!!

GT2's car list rocked my world 14 years ago. But unless you're really into Japanese cars Forza 4 has it beat on all accounts.

I'm mainly an import guy, so FM4 was a bit of a disappointment for me. Horizon made up for it a bit, but GT2 still tops my list for car selection.

Forza 5 was a step forward in car dynamics and physics...and A MAJOR STEP BACK in terms of user interface, progression, community interaction via selling used cars, etc, etc. Basically Forza 4 was a great burger patty surrounding by a good bun and Forza 5 is a fantastic burger patty wrapped in a dirty diaper. I still like Forza 4 as a complete package.

try to get more people involved so you can switch out, and bring your drinking pants. A beer a race is a lot of volume if you aren't used to drinking that much at a time.

There can only be one.
King Shit!

Isn't Live for Speed pretty old? Also I haven't hear much about Assetto Corsa, outside the fact that it may exist and it has Ferraris in it.

So you mean my easy night of drinking pants?
LOL jk (but not really)

if that's your bag, then yeah. I'm used to drinking beers that get you shit faced after 4. Switching to the cheaper stuff was just too much volume for race after race.

I like the driving in forza better by a bit, but the actual game setup and career mode just don't make me want to play it. GT5 was a lot more fun to play through the career mode in my opinion.

I like Forza over GT, and Forza3 is my favorite so far.

Assetto Corsa is in an early access alpha at the moment, and it has a variety of cars, mainly from Ferrari, BMW and Lotus, along with some other "special" cars.
Live for Speed may look a bit dated, but the driving model is still up to date. Nothing other than Assetto Corsa has really gotten close.

I really liked the F1 series but they still haven't resolved the issue that kept the physical version of F1 2013 coming to the US, and I don't have room on my Xbox to download it off of the marketplace.

Might be pretty old, but still has one of the best physics engine out there. Its one of the few where you can drift realistically, using real-world techniques.
