Any driving videogames taking place on the open road for PC?

A friend of mine is looking for a driving game that is truly open road, and doesn't want an NFS "open city" game. The requirements are that it's not NFS, and it's available on PC. I assume he's looking for a Forza Horzion-esque game for PC.

He's considered TDU, but something doesn't feel right about it in general to be honest, so what other options are there?

If it's more for fun, then GTA 4 is nice, plus you can add endless mods.

If he wants a simulator then City Car Driving is the way to go. (Also has a lot of mods)

Test drive unlimited 2 is fun but it's more arcade than simulation and the online portion has fallen apart since the dev got shut down.

I'd roll up to my trailer house in my Veyron. Houses are cool to personalize but it's all about the cars.

Midnight Club 2, Driver San Francisco and my favorite...BURNOUT PARADISE! as suggested earlier, Midtown Madness 1 is the perfect game! But mods stopped rolling and everyone went with midtown madness 2 which still receive mods to this date. I hate it with passion compared to mm1...I really miss mm1.

Oh man I remember the Midtown Madness community getting furious at Microsoft for releasing it only on Xbox, including me. There was even a petition and we bashed Microsoft for leaving PC games behind in the favor of Xbox. Damn...driving on the Archipelago mod in mm1 was just too awesome with a bmw 2002 at night....

No unfortunately not. Did you ever play the one where you would race on the great wall of china on dirt bikes or street bikes as well as a few other courses. I can't remember the name though

Motocross Madness!!! Hell yeah I did...but the demo only. I tried to get to the end of the map in the desert and when you do, you get ejected far away, like if you rolled on a bomb.

holy crap! I totally forgot about that. The best part of the game was that there was only like 4 levels and when you beat them, you got to play them all in reverse and with mini bikes haha
