I'd like an insider to please explain just how much bloat and weight the governments of the world have mandated be stuffed into our cars? I'm sure most of this car fat is from the airbags in the front, side, top, bottom, back, and the structure crumple safety zones and the pedestrian regulated nose designs that MUST be built into each new car. I mean, pop-up headlights are illegal to manufacturer in a new car now because of the danger to pedestrians should you run into one.

So how much weight, Mr. Insider? How much fat and heave do we have to govern-mentally take with us?

I'm no insider, but I used a Miata as the donor car for my Seven... You'd be amazed at the amount of airbag-related wiring and sensors I deleted. Somewhere I have pictures of some of the crap I removed... And the Miata is considered a lightweight.

It is really the small cars that have grown the most relative to the original. The sedans haven't grown nearly as much.
