Factors:

Can't be less practical than the Camry, so hatch, wagon or sedan, no roadsters, coupes.

MKZ Hybrid. Done.

Fusion hybrid? Very similar, better looks though.

Totally just as practical as a Camry.

Mazda 6

Something like a Fiesta or Focus ST will still have relatively cheap insurance. A Fusion is a good option as well. You may also take a look Kia's and Hyundai's offerings, I looked at some and they are really nice for the price point.

Awd and a wagon so it's a better option then a hell kitty. It can even seat 7.

Done.
1.3 L, 4 doors, cheap insurance, practicality.

1.3L? It must be very fuel efficient!
238 hp vs 662 hp

Anything that isn't a Camry.

I was looking at those but I heard A. Extremely Unreliable, and B. Terrible on gas.

A Volvo S80 or S60, or this - get a CarMax warranty and revel in the reliability (at CarMax's expense).

If I had that kind of money I would.
I feel very stupid, but it is 2:30 am, and I posted this at 1am after a long day.
I didnt put my price range, which is actually how much the camry is worth, $9000-$10000.
I'll probably put a better thought out and more serious thread tomarrow.

You could get an s80 at carmax for that price range, no one wants the S80, but it has a nice engine

No, not a problem - we can work in that price range. Say a car 2 years newer, another Camry? There is also the Altima Hybrid, they might be cheap 2011 and newer. And the Toyota Highlander Hybrid would be my choice - the taxis here ride GREAT - but I can't even guess at the prices. Let us know what happens.

And wait - what is the reason for replacing the Camry?
![]() 12/31/2014 at 03:01 |

Insurance. Extremely high insurance rates for hybrid vehicles. Camry itself has high insurance. Put both together and its unaffordable. Also hybrid transmissions and parts are extremely expensive to replace.
V6 Camry is cheaper to insure. But since the Camry has the highest insurance rates in the mid size class I'd rather avoid it all together. I like the car though.

Maybe Accord is the answer here. Or Malibu - my mom has one. Really cheap to insure.

almost anything!
how about a Cobalt?
Hummer?

Virtually anything.
But considering the criteria, Volvo wagon or Subaru Outback.

Miata with a tow trailer with three extra seats on one side and storage in the other.

How about a new Camry? According to Jan, it's a blast to drive.

mazda6 or mazda3? 38 and 40 mpg respectively, and I dare you to find a better looking car in their market space.

I drove an S80 - about 2 generations ago, and I loved it. Decent dynamics (better than the E-class of the period). Good power, very good build quality. A bit button-heavy. If I needed a big 4-door, I just might ....
