Since my last four posts have been about Fords (wut) time for some GM photodump.

I wish my parent's tax dollars could do as good of a job at fixing potholes as they could building cars.

Far too much Ford.
Jk, hope the family enjoys the Fusion, I bet you wish it was an Impala.

Here you go.
Yes, the Chevy Forester was actually a thing. They were sold in India.

Ooh, that was a low blow.
Good thing GM paid back all the money the government gave them, and more, I think.

You *think*.

I know, I'm excited though!
Honestly, the Impala rode well and had a nice exhaust note. They're about even in the looks department, and I had more room in the back of the Fusion somehow. The Impala had a nicer looking interior, but the Fusions was more logically laid out and the seats in the rear felt nicer.
I dunno, I'd be happy with either. I just don't think my parents could justify the price difference.
I do like how the Ford has paddle shifters rather than a stupid toggle on top of the shifter.

I remember seeing this somewhere I think. What a weird rebadge.

I'd be wrong. I don't understand financial talk, but it appears GM paid back less, but the government made a bunch more back through other investments and stuff. This shit's confusing.

At least with the 9-2x, they changed the design a bit, but that forester is just good old GM rebadging.

I'm not clicking that link, I won't understand it. I'll just take your word for it.

Trust me, I just googled GM pays back bailout and clicked on that, then slowly stumbled through it trying to get my answer.

Good, purge the system.

GM did own quite a few shares of Subaru at the time, so they took advantage of it.

I knew that, I believe they owned about 1/3 of the company (?). I had no idea they rebadged the Forester, though.

It was for India. That's most likely why you've never seen or heard of it.

Oh India! When I saw your initial post, I read it as "Indiana". Which, I thought was super weird that they'd sell a vehicle in one state.

Funny. My Outback is made in Indiana.

Yeah, I've driven past the factory many times (it's on I-65 a bit north of Indianapolis), and I think that's why my brain made that leap.

It's 10 hours from me. I wonder if I should take my car there on a road trip there for a factory tour at some point. As it is, I'm driving down to Alabama next week to tour the Hyundai and Honda plants.

I recommend going for the Indy 500. The factory is only a half hour or so north of town.

Interesting. Looks like I may have a future trip to plan out.

They took a "loss". That is they averted an even worse recession at the expense of a fraction of our defense budget.
