On offer from a Toyota dealer, no less. Billed as a "pre-auction special", which makes me think there may be a good deal of wiggle room. It's well-presented for a truck of its age, but I haven't the slightest idea what the market for these looks like.

its a neat truck and its clean, but its got 241k miles and its the bare bones stripped 4x2. you can get a fj80 in that shape for about that.

I'm familiar with the auctions. They'll get $1500-2500 at either the used car auction or the salvage auction. I bought my '88 Dodge Ram 50 2WD 5speed at the Madison Copart auction for $1510 after fees and registration.

Someone will probably buy it. Doesn't mean you should. I bought my 4x4 Tacoma for $1400 with less miles on it. I've driven the Tacoma and the Pickup back to back and the Tacoma handles much better and has way more power than the 22-re. For $3500 find a nice T100 or a tacoma, or a pickup with less miles on it.

So CP it's not even funny. I know toyota trucks hold value well, but I wouldn't pay more than a grand for that.

Didn't even notice the mileage; that's a good deal of miles, even on a workhorse.

sorry 251k miles. not that its not still in great shape and all, and if you REALLY want one its worth it, but still...

Not at all in the market, this just popped up in a sidebar search. Mostly just interested that a dealer actually threw this up on their website.

Methinks that without 3 gallons of armor-all on it it'd show it's age a lot more heavily.

probably true. Single owner through its life though, so thats good.

It is funny they would bother pushing something like this. Not that many old pickups find themselves at dealers.

Let me tell you this straight up, they gave the previous owner who traded it in no more than $500 for this bastion of longevity. Or if it is "off auction" then it was purchased for <$1000. Add on $500 of tires and detail, sell it for $3500, make insane profit margin on a literally financially worthless vehicle.

Sad to say, but CP. It's well built and like new looking, but you can get more for your money.

They stole that thing for maybe $700 and marked it up 400%. "Pre-auction" means "We're going to make a killing on this if you buy at this price". Oddly enough, I'm seeing prices on these from $3,000 up to $8,0000. I'd take it. I love these old 'Yotas.

"Pre-auction" means "We're going to make a killing on this if you buy at this price".
We have a winner.
