With the new Alpha platform and the twin turbo v6, does GM have any plans for a new Grand National? It would be disappointing if GM doesn't take advantage of the platform.

Saw this in my fb feed. Doubt it's real.

It has been confirmed it is NOT happening, more times than I can count. The GN will happen when Plymouth is resurrected to build the 'Cuda and when Ford builds the Bronco.

The Photoshop is strong in this picture.

That looks like a unholy combination of a 3 Series, Hyundai Genesis and an E-Class with a Buick badge slapped on.
I need dis.

That looks sinister with black steelies. Fantastic.

If there is one it better have 2 doors and be rear wheel drive. Anything else would be a disgrace.

Looks like a BMW.

Doesn't have the Hofmeister kink.

The Cuda was closer than you think, but the rest are hogwash.

Those are Porsche Boxter taillights on what looks like a CTS-V.

I knew that the 'Cuda was in the plans, but weren't those completely scrapped when the SRT brand became a division again?
![]() 12/28/2014 at 20:45 |

It was scrapped even before I started working there in 2013.

The problem with a new GN is it would never live up to the reputation of the '86-'87 cars.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't that the one from one of the Fast and Furious movies?

It couldn't happen because Buick doesn't have the balls to defy GM beauracracy like it used to.

Watch the documentary Black Air, its about the GNX and what GM and everyone thought of it. All I can say is that corvette engineers weren't too happy that a regular mill model could beat the c4's engine performance. I guess that lead to the ZR1 project.

It's really too bad GM doesn't let it's divisions have a little more freedom. Sure they'd be competing with eachother, but you'd have four separate R&D departments trying to make the best they can of what they have. I know they do this already to a point, but the whole "NOTHING CAN BEAT A CORVETTE!!!!" mentality is stupid and dated.

The corvette is the american sports car that can keep the 911 in check and laugh in a Ferrari's face for its reliability. If you want 4 doors, haul ass, and go around a corner you get a Chevy SS, CTS-V, ATS-V. The divisions do have a certain freedom but they have a certain criteria to meet. Not every division can make a sports car.

I think they did have a GNX in one of the more recent F&F movies, but I'm not entirely sure cause I haven't seen the past couple ones!

Indeed it is, just the public doesn't know.

No, but it's amazing what can happen when they do.
