Jaguar XJS restomod. Rip out the interior, wiring, and drivetrain and replace it with something a bit more modern and less Prince of Darkness. My thoughts on a donor car would be a 2002 Chevy Camaro. Interior would be mostly original, but probably have some Camaro switchgear in there. A good example of an XJS is about $6000, a shitty Camaro donor car in good running nick but with a body or interior not worth saving is probably about $2000.

They do make kits for the XJ6 and XJ12 for SBC/LS1 swaps. Not sure about the XJ-S though.
Transmission is probably the biggest problem.
But people have been putting Chevy engines in Jaguars for ages . It's definitely do-able.

Sounds like project car hell but it would be a fun car!

The transmission is a Chevy unit, the same one used in their trucks and high-performance cars. The kit for the SBC swap for the XJS retains the stock wiring and lucas electrics, which I'd rather not.

I have a similar idea, but because LS motor are expensive in here, i'll go with either 1UZ-FE or 20B. Both cost a grand.
But i haz no skillz.

How about starting with a halfway decent Camaro and doing a 2 way swap. A V12 Camaro with a wood and leather interior has got to be a thing - it's basically an Aston.

HAHAHAHAHA
That's brilliant. So many fanboys would shit themselves in frustration.

It would probably be a cool car, but I like to put a little more effort into restomods to get things feeling 'right'. Just personal preference.
My idea for a restomod XJS would be a 5.0l AJV8 coupled to a Supra 5-speed probably, running 'bodies and a standalone ECU. Awww hell yes :)
I might actually try and do this with a 4.0l or a 4.2l AJV8 at some point :)
