Just found out my laptop doesnt play blu ray discs. Not a big issue since Ive only noticed now and Ive had it for over a year, but still. The consequences of buying an open item laptop for $300 I guess.

What's a blu ray? Is that like a netflix or something?

You can probably switch that drive out for one that does play blu ray's. You can definitely get an external.

Better than having one, but an update makes the Blu-ray playback program inoperable, and their suggestion is to buy the newest edition for $60.

Maybe things have changed recently but I've never had good luck with blu-Ray players on computers. When the drives first started getting cheap, I bought one with the intention of building a home theater PC and it played maybe a third of the blu-Ray discs I got a hold of. I even had to buy blu-Ray player software. In hindsight, I should have bought a PS3 but they were still super expensive then.

I could, not sure if its worth the money though. Plus if I get a good job for the summer I might just replace the thing for something with an i5.

Hey, some movies arent out on Netflix. I'm also really like a higher quality video, so when I prefer to not stream when I dont have too.

And then buy playback software on top of that.

I have a Blu-ray drive in my computer AND a license for TWO different Blu-ray video playback packages, and eff me if I can ever get a Blu-ray disc to play correctly on my PC.

Wanna feel a little better? My sister's new $1200 Macbook Air can't even play a disc. Period.
It's super nice and light though ;)
