So with a car that costs $65k do we suspect it'll be repaired? My friend had a new corolla that took a pretty big impact, and they ended up repairing it despite the quote being like 12K.

Oh noes! A turn!

Yeah, I have always been confused by that. If it's $65K to replace, and $30-40K to fix, why don't the insurance companies fix it? That's cheaper, right?

Poor car, it was only at the wheels of someone who ran out of talent. Unless they were "avoiding a deer" :(

They ran into a turn. Car didn't know what to do.

It says the speed limit was 40, yet there is no estimated speed the car was traveling in the article. Can we get a speed check?

Rocket Raccoon : That car there. I need its motor.
Peter Quill : Its motor?
Rocket Raccoon : Yeah. God knows I don't need the rest of it. Look at it. It's useless.
Peter Quill : ...All right.

It would be, although at a certain point, you run into frame damage, which I'm informed cannot be repaired.

It all depends on what the estimated salvage return is and/or the likelihood of finding hidden damage once they start tearing into it.
If the car is worth $65K, and there is $40K of damage, but the wreck will fetch $20K at salvage, fixing it is only $5K cheaper, except that with $40K of damage there is very good odds that they will find another $5K+ of damage once they get deep into it, making the repairs less cost-effective.

Judging from the missing bark on those trees, this is not the first time an accident has happened there.

Trees always win, very unforgiving they are.

Followed with exaggerated steering input, four wheel lock up, and screaming.

He wasn't speeding but his back tires were. Too bad 5 more feet to the right is an open field...

Let's hope he doesn't have blah-blah insurance.

$65k car (dealer markup). Title, tax, plates add another $5000 or so? Drives car off lot, depreciates by 20%. Insurance company pays $52,000. $18,000 loss for one hour of driving!

My boss's wife got T-boned in her 2012 Camaro and there was like 15k dmg, but since it's a unibody - boom totaled, it was sad too I wanted to 'borrow' some parts off her car for mine lol.

Captain Lime-aide was sideways instantly when that suspension unloaded midturn.
yet probably not going scary fast judging by the damage.
Challengers seem to have a sketchy relationship with traction.
