I think the fox-body Mustangs look horrible.
There, I said it.

I agree.

I think they look half-finished

I don't agree fully, but I think the ones that try to bodykit their way into "looking Mustang" aren't as good as the ones that don't.

I've always thought everything about them was trash

Yeah.

I agree to some extent, but the later cars like the one you posted are a notable exception.
In fact, I'd say it stopped looking horrible around 1985, although the notchback never looked any good. Ever.

I thought this was the generally held belief. Decent platform for certain performance purposes, rubbish to look at.

Even growing up around them, I still can't get myself to like them.

Even most of the people who drive them, frankly.

I only like the back ends, and only the hatchback version. It's the shape, proportions and short distance from door to wheel well that I like. Reminds me of the Sport Quattro.
But the rest of the Fox body? Bleh. Bland front end, even in Cobra guise. Interior is garbage. The earlier ones with the squared headlights are straight hideous.

I used to think the same thing, but they've grown on me a bit since then.

It's the best-looking Mustang IMO. But I'm more of a Firebird guy, so what do I know?

Eh, I just think they're bland and uninspired. As far as I'm concerned the only real reason they have a following is because they're cheap and have a V8.

I love the four-eyes, but the later GT never did anything for me.

I agree with this. The pre-facelift SN95 is fugly as well.

haha NO

I would agree, but at the same time, isn't it kind of the appeal ? I've always viewed fox-bodies as beaters or go-to cars for extended modification/engine-swap/frankensteining the shit out of.

finally another person who agrees!

I've owned plenty of Fox-bodies, 4 or 5 of them anyway. My favorite looking one was this piece of shit:
It had holes in the floorboard you could use to watch the road move past and I found $11 worth of change in it while gutting the interior.
It only ever ran on 7.5 cylinders according to a power balance test we did in school, but for some reason it pulled harder than any of there other ones I had owned, including this dead mint '92:
I suspect the Capri might have actually been a 351, but I bought it out of some guy's yard for $500 then sold it out of my yard for the same a few months later and never found out about the engine. Ah well.

I used to feel exactly as you do, and I still wouldn't call them good to look at by any stretch of the imagination. However, somehow in the last couple years as the next generation aged (and aged extremely poorly, in my eyes) the fox body started to look alright in a functional '80s box kind of way...

Oh man yeah they do...
But I slowly began to see the appeal in them, as great swap and hoon candidates.

I rather like them, but i must admit the front overhang can look a little off. Personally i thinm they look better sans the big front airdam. Balances the design a bit better :)

I think that they are ugly like a pug. And by that I mean so ugly that its good! Especially in the terrible 80's cocaine white or the teal color they were available in.
