My friend has one and I haven't been too impressed.

Since the 5 won't be around in the US much longer and finding out that the 2015 won't have the manual option any longer, I'll probably get a 3 should I need to replace my 2012 6MT. At least on the 3 you have a few trim level choices and don't have to settle for the base model if you dare to be so odd as to want to shift for yourself.

Let me start by saying, I sold these cars so I know what I am talking about more than most. The Mazda 3 is the best of the cheap econo cars (civic, Corolla, focus). BUT, it is nothing more than that, a cheap econobox. They really aren't better than anything over the $25000 range.
