It's spelled Aston Martin. It's a foreign car.

So they broke into his car, didn't find the drugs they were looking for, and are now charging him for having guns that he's legally allowed to own in his car? It sounds like it there was a school shooting, this kid would be the first one I'd want to be near.

Well, at least two of them are definitely not legally owned by himself.

While performing walk-arounds with a K-9, they saw weapons clearly visible in the vehicle; possession of firearms on school property is a felony, regardless of legal ownership. He broke the law.

I just really hate it when a law exists for one reason, and then is enforced to the nth degree needlessly. This reminds me of something that happened when I was in high school. The valedictorian went to a birthday party one night and brought a cake. Her car was randomly searched the next day and they found the cake knife in her car. Needless to say, felony charge, expulsion, sent to an alternate learning center, etc and it was all just bullshit. Too many reactionary laws and too gung-ho of a police force makes for a situation where good kids get screwed for nothing.

Interesting. Looking at some other news sources, it really just sounds like he was planning to go shooting with his dad after school. In this respect, I think it's worth noting that there are 6 AR magazines, with no AR pictured.

I certainly agree in general, but this certainly deserved the attention of the police. After reading a few other stories I do believe that he had no ill intentions, and I do hope that they see that and don't ruin his life. He did make a pretty piss poor decision in having the guns on school grounds, especially if they were loaded as the stories report.

This reminds me of my high school, when guys would drive their pickup trucks with gun racks in the rear window. Every one of them had at least one shotgun. I couldn't say whether they were loaded or not, but my gut says they were.
High school was also over 20 years ago for me.

you're a bright bright boy and don't let anyone tell you otherwise

I noticed that, too. Both long guns have an internal magazine.
Who knows why the kid had any of it.

Firearms. On. School property. No high schooler has any legitimate reason for bringing a gun to school with them in their vehicle.
Also, all vehicles parked on school property are subject to search at any time, and usually any blade longer than 2.5" is considered a weapon.
And it's not a "gung-ho" police force that is screwing kids, it's zero-tolerance principals and school districts that do the damage.

Looks like a one of the guns is a 308 BLR, almost bought one until I had to pay $2500 on a chimney liner and re-pointing. le sigh... stupid house.
