Two sisters on the same block. Nothing says the holidays like family coming together...
"Get out of the road asshole!" "Ah fuck you."

The older one looks much better IMO. Less bloat, less crossover-esque, moar wagon

duh. Although I would argue the newer one is still very much on the wagon side of crossover

At least the new one still has a hood ornament and a third seat, even on the AMG version :)
The older one has better visibility, less complicated, cool single wiper and cute headlight wipers (not on the one in you post, sadly), one of the last good Mercedes.
The new car has poor visibility, more complicated, uglier

Imo, the W212 would look much better if the rear end was so huge. It looks like it just doesn't belong there.

Those wheels win every time

I love the single wiper!

It's a little ungainly.

as much as people will complain about how much worse the newer one is, it's amazing how many design cues mercedes has retained. in the first two pics, the cars really share a lot of design elements. Look at the angle of the window pillars, the grille, the chrome accents, the roof bars, the slight curvature along the line of the body..... really cool, considering there is a good 25 (?) years between these car's productions

every damn time

Very true. I think it's probably just that last picture of the rear end that makes it seem taller.

You are correct. I think the grille is the coolest connection, and I'm sad that MB has moved away from it. Always been a fan.

it's also a pretty steep hill.

I never liked the tiny split in the headlights on the newer E's. It looks like someone sharpies on them. They should've just gone with two regular headlights.

I do believe I've seen this very car on the street before.

where?

The Chelsea area, it was quite a while ago. Not very far from CCC, only a few blocks.

I do love those wheels, not sure they'd work on a BRZ though :/

They would though, just cause

This was a very awkward generation for the E-Class.

There are a pair of E-Class wagons near me. One W211 and one W212. I feel like they are both driven by very successful librarians, since the plates on one say "ELPHABA" and the other say "BOOKISH".

I used to think so, but now I appreciate and miss the split headlight.

I don't mind the headlights of the W210 or W211 but the square headlights of that gen just look awkward for me.
