It looks so much better and less bloaty, same thing with the CLA.
Wagon looks good but the sedan looks too droopy and melty and bloaty.
Massive improvement.

I saw a new C-Class and mistook it for a CLA. That's a problem if you ask me.

Oh look, something the United States doesn't get.

You say it's droopy and melty, I say it's got sexy curves. The CLA is one of my favorite looking MB's currently on sale.
But it's not a vehicle I would ever purchase. Too many compromises in quality, attention to detail and interior (mostly rear) volume.
But I think the sedan looks very good.

I saw a new S-Class at night and mistook it for a C-Class.

You are kidding, you don't get the Estate version?

I don't really like Mercedes new design cues, they are way too modern for me. Too round and too many curves.

And suddenly we have a second Audi. Same design, just different sizes.
Though at least the Audis are handsome, the Benzes look like melted, droopy blobs.

LOL we haven't gotten the estate version of pretty much ANY car in YEEEAARRSS
![]() 12/09/2014 at 21:03 |

The only Estate/wagon we get is the E-Class.

Finally someone who agrees with me, the new Mercs look so weird. I see BMW ending up with the same problem in the newer future, every single car will have that "headlight fused with grille" thing.

The fake exhaust detail. stupid.

The A-Class I sort of understand, the rest not so much. Why not sell estates to the American market?

It makes no sense

I totally agree with you on the new C-class, and that goes double for the outgoing C-class and also the current E-class.
The CLA sedan is especially hideous for a different reason: it's an afterthought, just a trunk grafted on to the A-class hatchback. They should just sell us the fucking hatchback already :)

There's two luxury companies who's designs I like throughout the whole lineup: Audi and Cadillac. Everyone else has one or more cars (or even the whole lineup) that just looks bloody hideous.

Utterly stupid.

Now you know our struggles.
![]() 12/09/2014 at 21:09 |

Because people would rather drive Fugly CUV things that are basically Sedans with a lift kit.

The new E class looks pretty kickass as well! I would go as far as to say it's one of the best looking cars under $100,000

I can't disagree. They've always leaned towards making the C-Class look like a smaller E-Class, which isn't the point. The differentiation between the 190 and the W123/124 of that period was spot on. If I spend money on a 350E (or whatever the fuck they build now) I want a better engine and for the man-on-the-street to know I went E-class.

Volvo? >:D (Devoted Volvoist here...)

I can't say I'm a fan of the new XC90, but I do like everything else.
![]() 12/09/2014 at 21:19 |

Same thing here, and I extend that to almost every small sedan based on hatchbacks, it just looks wrong.
![]() 12/09/2014 at 21:23 |

That's the perfect comparison, the 190E and W123/4 were perfect in that sense, two different cars with two different purposes and therefore different styling. This is just one of my rants about Mercedes new styling cues, the new S-Class, the CLA, E-Class and now the C-Class, they all look melty, weird and not classy enough like the Mercs I'm used to.
![]() 12/09/2014 at 21:24 |

I've always liked the W212 a bit more, it looks more stately.
![]() 12/09/2014 at 21:25 |

A class doesn't make sense, there is obviously a market for the Fiesta St/Focus ST/GTI there is room for the A to compete.
![]() 12/09/2014 at 21:28 |
|
Yeah, but those are the top of the range sport models, the basic A-Class would compete with them price wise, and that wouldn't be very viable.
![]() 12/09/2014 at 21:29 |

Oh don't get me wrong! I love the w212 too! I think they're both awesome cars but for diffrent reasons. The 2014 is smooth and stylish, almost like something a secret agent would drive. The w212 is more gradiose and classy.
![]() 12/09/2014 at 21:38 |

Yeah, it does look a little funny, esp with some of the tiny wheels they're fitted with...
![]() 12/09/2014 at 22:07 |

It's terrible, most of the times I see a C Class I can't tell if its an S-class or not.

14's are still 212's, just face lifted. The replacement (213?) Should be released as a '17 I think.
