Like the title says. I vote for the Firebird. Even if it would be based on the Camaro underneath and if it followed the letters "Chevrolet", it's infinitely cooler than the Camaro.

Duh. But modernized and not as tacky as the conversion kits people sell for new camaros.

Okay, it's not really a muscle car, or a pony car, but the Capri!

That would be awesome.
Maybe with a turbocharged or supercharged 3.6 Pentastar and 5.7 HEMIs under the hood?

This is a post with merit. AMC as a freak-car brand within Chrysler might actually flourish. Don't dump the crazy projects on Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth (RIP) and Ram willy-nilly, keep them in a corral. The SRT-10 pickup? Imagine it as an AMC. The Prowler? Stupid, but should have been AMC. Crossfire? AMC. AMC everything - what are you going to do, develop a rep for silliness? Under the Levis Pacer and The Machine brand?

Nova/Chevy II
Chevelle (an actual 2 door SS would be a good start)

But must be a two door and t-tops as an option

1965 Buick Riviera GS
Take the platform from the Cadillac CTS, make it into a big 2-door coupe, and make it look like a modern version of the picture above. Hideaway headlights and all.
But it'll never happen, so I'll just have to get a '65 at some point.

El Camino SS. More sporty small pickups can't be a bad thing.
Chrysler 300 letter series. 300C Hellcat!

With the Taurus getting long in the tooth it's time for a rear-drive replacement to compete with the Charger. Base it on the Mustang's platform which is to good to not make other cars out of.

oh and Pierre Cardin can get his final say on a Javelin reboot all day in my book. I think the way the SRT brand is a catch all for the crazy you are absolutely correct.

AMC = failure. Same with Studebaker. Same with Edsel. And Rambler, and Plymouth, and Mercury and, yes, even Pontiac. Let them go. Let them rest in peace.

Not really a muscle car? I think the orange on at bottom is a V8 Perana, which certainly qualifies in my book.

Brands that died in ignominy are somewhat different than brands that just softly faded away, or brands that were cut down when just... kind of there. Granted, AMC died with *some* ignominy, but not wholly due to it. This does raise a question, though - has there ever been a brand that was really successfully revived since death? Model lines, again and again, but marques not so much. Talbot is probably the closest thing to a success on that front, and that was really flakey and a long time ago. MG almost went that way, but was snatched from the brink and now leaves something to be desired. Then again, if you look at it from the perspective of brand presence in a country, you have a litany of imports that are on-again, off-again with decades between. Maybe continuity of engineering and design vision - however tenuous - counts for more than continuous sales.

Sargent Shriver rear-ended me in one of these in the 70s. Dad's Coronet was barely damaged. The Capri was totaled.

It does seem always to be a risk that a car will not be seen as a "genuine" X if it's reanimated many years out of date, but the Bugattis were exclusive enough with the EB110 to where that didn't matter much, even before the widespread success of the Veyron. Somebody tried to revive Packard, IIRC, and it was a fiasco. I think brand revival is possible, but it has to be an entity with serious horsepower and will to do so, and the will not to move too quickly. Maybach, I think, was too much of an attempt to "move over Rolls Royce" without enough time spent garnering good will, let alone a certain limit to customer base. The Stutz revival way of attempting brand necromancy is also clearly wrong - small budget and throwback only works if you do it very strategically indeed like Morgan relaunching the three-wheeler line nearly seventy years on.

Maybach I never understood - if you're going to make a high-end German limo, make one. Was it only us car guys who saw the S-Class resemblance? Don't get me wrong - the S-Class is a platform worthy of veneration, but I might want something different hiding that platform. And the Maybachs were, by and large, UUUUUGLEE. I've heard that JayZ insists on one when he's shuttled about by others. Dunno which car is the Beyonce of richmobiles, but the 62 ain't it.

I think AMC is due for a comeback. As far as I know, Chrysler never sold the rights to the name so they could potentially bring it back, perhaps with a Challenger-based Javelin or AMX. Hell, they could stuff as much power as they could into a reskinned, AWD Dart and call it a Spirit. I'd be fine with that.
