I was thinking it, but I didn't have the clarity of mind to phrase it at the time. Listen to Buddy Baker talk about that "wing," sometime - and see if he didn't think it made a difference.

With so much chatter about the cross section of the wing on the Daytonas and Superbirds, and to how effective they may have been in generating downforce, I'm surprised how little attention has been paid to the vertical fins that support it. These fins lent a great deal of yaw stabilization at superspeedway speeds, so much so that similar aerodynamic awakenings were happening in Europe in Group 5 during the same period.
