"Hey Bubba, GM just got approval to build a mid-engined Corvette." Hmm. Ya...riiiiiiiiight.
"They're already building and testing it. Should be out in 2017."
He won't shut up about it. Maybe I'll point him in the direction of this article that was just posted. What a coincidence.

This will never ever happen. Ever.

Tell me about it. Right after he initially said it, I quit listening.

Same here. This guy in one of my classes believes all car rumours ever. It's so annoying.

Yep its right up there with the new NSX hitting showrooms.

This is a whole lot more likely to make production than the 2004 Bronco that makes it's yearly rumor round amongst the uninformed.

Should debut right around the same time as the Maxda RX-9, amirite?

Haha exactly.

There is a lot of rumors running around that the ZR-1 will be a separate, mid-engined model, to properly compete with Ferraris and the like.

rumors .
![]() 12/04/2014 at 12:46 |

I'll bet you a substantial amount it does...
![]() 12/04/2014 at 12:48 |

Yep.
Just like the Shelby GT350 was rumored to use a flat plane crank.
Or that the M3 was rumored to use a brand new, heavily breathed twin turbo straight six.
Or that Mitsubishi was killing the Evo for good.
Rumors start for a reason. They shouldn't be dismissed completely.

I'm still highly skeptical.

It will happen when the Ford GT gets a Front engine.

Just like in the 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s how it was going to.
It is NEVER going to happen.

How much do you wanna bet?
![]() 12/04/2014 at 13:08 |

Basically.
![]() 12/04/2014 at 13:09 |

I don't bet with strangers on the internet. Unless you have some insider information at GM that no one else does, this is still totally mythical.
![]() 12/04/2014 at 13:09 |

GM got approved? By who? God? Don't nobody tell GM what it can and can't do.

You must be new here.

On the contrary, I have been commenting here since 2007.
I just know not to automatically dismiss all rumors that come out of the industry.

No inside information, just a hunch. You can only put so much power down with the engine up front.
For the record I do not work for General Motors, any subsidiaries or have any attachment to GM other than being a fan and my father working 30 years there

To be fair, mid-engine Corvettes existed in prototype form a couple times pre-C4. This particular rumor has been alive ever since. Keep throwing darts at a board, eventually one will hit the bullseye.

Haha I was wondering the same thing! I was just like "ya...mhmmm...sounds cool..."

Yes please. He's one of those people who claims to know EVERTHING about cars but actually knows nothing. Claims he owns a '68 Camaro and keeps promising to show it to me. Its been a year since I first heard of it and I have yet to lay eyes on his "bitchin Camaro."
