^Old picture of me and my daughter playing the wii^
Currently sitting at the airport waiting to fly to Palm Springs for some AMG "training" at the Thermal Club race track. I will be there for the next two days and will get to drive at least the GT and 205 C63 on the track. I can barely contain my excitement.

Why do the Germans no longer make an engine that doesn't break?

how come we always worry about how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood. But never seem to concerned about whether a woodchuck would chuck wood if a woodchuck could chuck wood. seems a bit presumptuous to just assume they would chuck wood at all. I feel like maybe we should be a bit more considerate of the woodchucks freedom of choice as well as their emotions, I know I for one would be a bit put off if every one just started to assume I would do something. just because I could. What if I don't feel like it. whatif the wood chucks don;t feel like it...

This is off the wall, but is it true that you can't order SLR parts without having an SLR vin to go with it? meaning, I can't just order the SLR engine without proving I have an SLR?

Was there a question there? I'm pretty sure woodchucks can't chuck wood. Not do I ever assume they can.

Yes. They don't want you to build clones I think.

Hardly any Mercedes engines break actually, they're stupid reliable, the engines themselves. You must be thinking of BMW and VAG.

Nope. Most are pretty cool actually. But just like yelp you only hear about the shitty ones.

I heard this from someone who built an supposedly SL with the SLR running gear and that's when they clamped down.

Alaska. Boeing 737-700.

Yeah, that sounds about right. They even require VIN's for embossed AMG logo key fob covers. But interestingly not for emblems.

How did you engineer your move across the country? Did you get a job and arrive or arrive and get a job?

CLK63 Black Series. Clarkson's description in an episode of Top Gear was perfect and still applicable years later.

It wasn't engineered so much as saying "I'm moving to Portland on this day" and just following through. Looking back, my lack of preparation was a little scary. I lined up a few interviews on craigslist, and found a room for rent on craigslist for only $250/ month. Packed up as much of my stuff as I could in my car and started driving. 2.5 days later I wound up at my new apartment. Secured a job at a hot rod shop the next day. Then started my new life. I only had $600 in the bank when I left home. It was a tight budget for sure, but I made it work somehow and got lucky with the job and not having any surprises pop up. But I think if I had needed help my parents would have been able to throw some money my way. It was a huge risk, but it was worth it.
