I did that on a much smaller scale once on my truck. I had smashed the right rear quarter panel of my truck (long boring story), and I had to drive it as-is for nearly a year. I put a Hello Kitty bandaid on it as a joke. Amazingly it never came off, and got a few good laughs before I finally was able to fix it.
