Here's a big 'ol list of Japanese cars ranked by their power/weight (actually weight/power). In general I tried to find the best example of each car, I didn't want to go all "Gran Turismo and have a dozen of each model. As always power/weight isn't necessarily a perfect picture of a car's performance, but it makes for some interesting comparisons. Cars that are italisized have a questionable production and/or road legal status. Note the Camry V6 as a reference
Here's the American list if you missed it last week

Do you know what that the big ol mazda sedan was that had like 100 hp? It came out in the 70's.

It's just the Lexus RC F in the US. Not sure if it has a different name elsewhere, but there are no numbers listed in the name for the Lexus 'F' models.
The F Sport models have numbers.

240z definitely has less power than the 280z/zx. SAE vs Gross power is important when making non-arbitrary comparisons. Otherwise it's a pretty neat list

240Z was SAE gross, should be 135HP SAE net, which the 280Z and 280ZX are measured in.
Z32 Twin Turbo had 330HP, the GT-R R32 and Supra both had 300 also, official ratings were just underrated. R34 might have up to 350 but I'm not sure.
Later Z31s made 205HP, and Euro-spec ones made 240HP.

Pffft, FJ80 wins this chart
155 hp
4595 lbs
29.7 lbs/hp

It's close enough.

Man I want a pulsar GTI-R, though I'd take a 323 GTR as well,

Add 50 HP to the FRS/BRZ and you get a ratio smack in between a Lancer EVO I and a WRX STI Impreza...

MR2 figures are a wee bit off.
Weights should be a bit heavier at ~1260kg's / 2777lbs for all turbo models.. I think the 2657lb figure quoted there is for the USDM N/A Auto.
JDM cars had more power than USDM (as always) and in Nov 93+ they got the 3rd gen 3SGTE like the ST205 albeit with a few differences to account for it being mid mounted.
Export and JDM ST205's had different power ratings, of course.

Sorry, I just couldn't let it sit that a Camry V6 is faster than my JDM car :P (I'm aware it's a bit of a grave dig)

So the "underpowered" FR-S/BRZ duo has a better power to weight ratio than the precious CRX, RX-7, MR-2 and original 86?

Nope, Z32 TT had 300 HP. R34s had 280. R32s had "276". Supra TTs had 320HP.

The mazdaspeed 3 puts up very respectable numbers. I just wish it was 200lbs lighter.

I think you mean M56 / Q70. M45 was only good for 325HP
