I was just followed home by a police officer and then blocked in my driveway by his car. After three more officers arrived, the first officer approached my car and asked for my ID. They told me that they were looking for a small blue car. Awesome. They let me go after they cleared my ID.

I was so spooked that I just wanted to go inside. It's something crazy when you are afraid to step out of your car on your own property.

I was terrified. I didn't know what to do because none of them had their reds and blues on. I was scared to step out of my car and ask what the problem was.

then don't and call 911 next time and ask them why 3 officers just blocked you in

Did they say why they wanted I.D. other than they were looking for a blue car?

nope.

They must have been looking for me. :p
Sorry, but I could not pass up the joke; everything alright?

Unfortunately for you, someone operating a blue car in your area committed what was probably a rather violent crime and they were checking a lead/description that popped up within a short period of time. Shit happens. And yes, it's legal to do a stop in a situation like that.

Yeah, everything is okay. Thanks. It just freaked me out because they were just sitting there for almost 5 minutes without getting out of their cars or prompting me or anything. I didn't want to step out of the car out if fear that they would think I was intending to harm them. Cool winter wheels by the way!

I understand. I wasn't upset that I was stopped. I knew that I hadn't done anything wrong. It just scared me a bit.

Glad to hear you're alright and unharmed! :)
Thanks, they're Sport Classic wheels, 17 inch.

Completely understandable to be a bit unnerved by it. When you get to a point where you say "Ah crap, not again" it is DEFINITELY time to move because the neighborhood has attained shithole status. Hopefully thos never happens to you or your current neighborhood. Hopefully this will be the only time you go through an ordeal like this. Best wishes.

Thanks. The neighborhood never used to be like this, but in the past few years, a neighborhood closer to DC has started to encroach on mine. I hope to be moving within a couple years.

Yikes! That would freak me out too.

I've actually been mulling the idea of making a post on Oppo about my not-so-great experiences with the local police. Nothing to hurt any feelings, but just to start a conversation and try to rationalize and compare my examples, and possibly get some answers and other helpful feedback on the attitudes and operations of officers, and how to act and what to do in certain situations. If I do make such a post, can I site this article? Again, I don't hate any law enforcement or military service, I just would like to start a discussion. Something similar happened to my Mom involving her concealed carry permit, and I'd figure a decent example of awkward circumstance from Oppo would be good to reference.

Why would it scare you man? They're on your side and if you haven't done anything wrong, you have nothing to be scared of.
I'd just expect it to be a misunderstanding anyways.

"If you haven't done anything wrong, you have nothing to be scared of."
Sorry, but that couldn't be further from the truth. That mindset is how we end up with Stop 'n Frisk in NY or Papers Please in AZ or the NSA watching you while you poop. Having done nothing wrong only makes it scarier.

Just voicing my own opinion :)
I personally wouldn't have a problem with stop and frisk. Because they wouldn't find anything. I'd just think it would have been a mistake if something like that happened.
The NSA with their toilet cam, Not so much.

If they do have a toilet cam, then I just ruined someone's day this morning.

I feel ya. I was driving home from an Xmas party my friend had a couple years ago and got pulled over for no reason. He lives in a kind of rough part of town. I wasn't speeding or driving erratically. And I was in my 911. He pulled me over and asked me some questions. He didn't say he was looking for someone in a black 911. He just said he was looking for someone. He looked stressed and kind of scared himself. He could see that I wasn't who he was looking for and let me go.
I was stressed out and scared but I didn't get mad at the cop for pulling me over. I was just glad there wasn't a case of mistaken identity. Better to get let go than arrested... The guy he was after probably stabbed or shot someone or something.

I would have been like "my car isnt small" and went inside.

I'm in the same boat. I was stressed by the situation, but not upset for being followed/pulled over.
