Trying to remember the name of a movie I saw many years ago on a very old VHS tape... I want to say it was called 'dusty roads' but I don't think that's it, it was about a stunt driver hired and the carnival/stunt crew going from place to place in the late 50's or 60's. Not great acting or filming, but some neat (and unsafe looking) car jumps and crashes. No, it wasn't Gone in 60 Seconds, but it was in the same pile of VHS tapes at the going out of business sale where I found both...

The actor may have been named 'dusty' something, or maybe it was the character's name? Sorry, that's all I can think of. A lot of 40's and 50's cars got wrecked...

I don't think so... (sorry it's not very helpful) - I'm looking for people to start throwing titles out there... hoping one will trigger a memory. I am really surprised I haven't been able to find a list of "70's car movies" or "70's road trip movies" etc...

I feel like those lists usually comprise "All Time" which doesn't help. The only things coming to mind are Stunts, Moonrunners, The Stuntman; as well as some other fugitive or murderer type of movies.

It was a pretty lame backstory. Guy leaves town, drives car, meets stunt show operator, joins stunt show, they drive a lot ... That's about all.
