Bill Burr has a great description of how he handles conference calls in his Comedians in Cars appearance.

Basically puts his cell phone on speaker, lies down on his bed and covers his head. An approach I may try soon.

I have to do two conference calls a day with my job. I can confirm that even a 5 minute conference call is mind-numbing.
