I've got the keys and all the paperwork is complete. We are moving in tomorrow even if it's calling for 4" of snow tomorrow.

Man, I wish I could find/afford a house like that here.

That's awesome, I love that you have a house built around a garage! :)

I don't know where you are at but here in Alberta it was $350,000. It took me 10 years to be able to get it. so hang in there and one day you will find a way. For a long time I thought it was impossible as well.

It's great except I have no money left to do anything of value in the garage anymore.

I'm in Ottawa. And yeah, years of hard work. Just kind of difficult to think long term like that for me. I mean, I turn twenty on Monday, so I can't wrap my head around that much time.
Anyway, congrats on the new house, and best of luck with moving!

I'm just about to turn 30 so you still have a while to go me thinks.

Oh well, just enjoy ownership. I've owned several houses and there will ALWAYS be projects that you could do. But at some point its best to sit back and enjoy it. Good luck!

4'' of snow, no bueno for moving, but at least you have a big garage. back the truck up, dump all teh crap in the garage, then close the doors and crank the heat as you move out of the garage.
![]() 11/21/2014 at 13:23 |
|
That's exactly how Ima do it. except the heat part. The garage isn't heated but at least it's insulated and dry.

congrats man! I wish our new house had that much garage space. I'm hoping that with an addition of a shed I'll get 2 cars in mine.
Looks great! enjoy the house!

Congrats man. We just bought our first house over the summer. No bank stuff because my family owned it and I grew up there. But my land does not allow for for such a nice garage. That's a gorgeous looking place. I'm happy for ya.

Ahem:
But I'll have to get one eventually.

What do you mean when you say no bank stuff ? Do you mean you paid cash?
![]() 11/21/2014 at 13:42 |

I'm planning on adding a shed to the backyard eventually as well.

yea my only problems are the trash cans and snow blower. If I can get them into a functional right next to the house shed, I'll have another car in.

Congrats man!
Let the projects begin!

That's my problem. I have room to add a third stall to my garage, but the only way to afford that, would be to sell the car I want to put in it. Someday!

It seems that's a bit of a conundrum you got there.

Dude, that's a really nice looking house! Looks like it has a great plan too! (I'm super geeky about floor plans, CAD and most things that have to do with it!) Congrats! Hope you have many many happy years there!

Thanks! here you are my geeky friend.

SQUEEEEE!!! Seriously, thank you! It's beautiful!!!
![]() 11/21/2014 at 16:42 |

Yeah. I want to put up a vinyl 8x10 shed there in the spring. Then I can at least clear some crap out of the garage, and make some room to work in there. Someday I'll have the money to add the garage stall, and then I can take apart and sell the shed. Unfortunately I live on a corner lot, and because of the building setback lines, I only have enough room for either a 3rd garage stall, or a shed, but not both.

No. My uncle owned the house outright, and my family was paying him back for it. Well, the family had to move out after awhile, and they tried to sell the house to pay off the remaining $30k they owed my uncle for it. After awhile, I, and my other half agreed to take over the payments on the house. So, since my uncle is the rightful owner of the house, we have a gentleman's agreement for me to pay $400/month for a year, then $500/month for another year, then $600/month for the rest of the time, being 2-3 more years. No interest, no down payment, just monthly payments for a few years. Not bad for a 5 br/2.5ba house with a city view. Not near as nice as yours in any way. Just big and old.

That's a pretty sweet deal you got there. As long as your uncle doesn't screw you over, it sounds like you hit the jackpot. to own a house strait up in ~5 years is amazing. some people have all the luck I guess.
old & paid > new and fancy

An unusual stroke of good luck. He won't screw us over. He's almost 80 now, and we've been close our whole lives. He's a good guy. But yeah I got a hell of a good deal. The house is somewhere near 3500 sqft, which you cannot find, even in rough shape like mine, for under 100k around here. We are gonna live here a few years after its paid off, fix it up and sell it for a profit, to put towards land and a manufactured home.

WHOA! that is a big house. that's over twice the size of mine. Mine is 1685 sq/ft

Me like 3-car garage. Congrats!

Thanks! I can't wait to get it setup to my liking.
