drives an old toyota ute with what I suspect is no pipes, instead of straight pipes. Sounded like a marking band consisting of only tubas was coming up my street.

Know what was popular in Colorado (and I suspect everywhere else) circa 1987? Custom decaling your Bro-yota to have a tailgate with "TOY" or "TONKA" on it. I'd almost forgotten completely about that. "THANKS."

If it had a "Native" sticker on it, I would have immediately piled him into an airtight time capsule and buried it under the old drive-in on Santa Fe.
