Kinja'd!!!

I got this for $800 and an old marine used 302 for free, hopefully through the winter they'll come together to make something awesome.

I'm also looking for a radio unit, if anybody has an OEM one for this.

Matched tires: yes. Matched wheels - clearly way too much to ask for.

Excellent find, BTW.

Can't tell if nice paint, or just wet.

Nice! I hope that you're planning on completely rebuilding that 302 though if it was used on the water. Even the most reliable engines turn to dusty buckets of corrosion whenever they're put anywhere near a boat.

Decent-ish paint. The right side is seems to all have been redone, and looks worse than the original paint.

Thank you very much, I actually like the combo, specifically the cougar rims on the back.

I actually picked it up completely apart, and it looks pretty good, just need to hone a few of the cylinders.

That front wheelcover is off some sort of Mercury, I believe.

Actually it was hydrolocked, no apparent damage, but he was a teacher of an all day course working with engines so he had the students pull it apart. He gave the boat away, decided to do the same with the engine.

The fastback was the same as the Mercury Capri of the same years ('79-'82), more or less. I initially thought it was a Capri, but the nose is different.

The Fox platform is one of the most rugged and easily reworked platforms Ford ever made, too. Made in variants for 20 years, and a favorite for drag racers and street racers in this country - particularly the Fox Mustang. The Capri is the one I'd want, or possibly the Thunderbird.

Nope, an old couple was moving to florida, this was their daughter's shared car until they got their own 16 years ago. It's been under a cover in a barn since.

I love the '79 to '82 egg crate grill. Honestly its the best looking foxbody front end IMHO.

The '83 to 86 and 87 to 93 front ends pale in comparison.

Nice find. My grandparents bought a notchback new in 1980 with the 2.8. When they finally got rid of it in 2001, it had 27,000 miles on it. That said, the engine was tired: Grandpa had a penchant for revving the engine while it was cold (despite my father informing him that a) it wasn't necessary, and b) it was not really good for the engine).

Interesting tidbit: The car they replaced it with was an early 2000's Mitsubishi Mirage coupe. It was the first car they ever owned that had the foot brake/gearshift interlock on it, so they had to learn something new (which was harder to explain that you'd think). Also, it was the first fuel-injected car they've ever owned, so we had to break them of the habit of pumping the accelerator before starting the engine.
