My 8-year-old Sony STR-DG510 is starting to die so I'm looking at replacement options. I don't need super high quality and I'm looking to spend $200 or less.

So far the leading candidate is this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , but I welcome any suggestions you might have.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

My basic requirements are at least 3 HDMI inputs and a sub pre out. Optical inputs and banana plug capability for the speakers would be nice, but not necessary.

Thoughts?

Side note: Is there an Oppo-like sub blog for A/V stuff anywhere in the Gawkerverse?

If not, we should start one.

I got an Onkyo TX-SR308 a couple of years ago and couldn't be happier with it. I'm sure they have updated it by now, but it would be my recommendation.

As for that sub-blog, I don't think it exists, but it is something that needs to happen.

That Denon looks like a reasonably solid choice.

I have an Onkyo 2-channel stereo receiver that I really like. It's powering some Infinity speakers I got in 1998 along with a cheapie Sony 5.1 receiver that I never used the surround features on. The Sony receiver died in like 2010 and the Onkyo made the speakers sound a good bit (not a crazy amount, but somewhat noticeable) better.

The cheapest Onkyo I found is the TX-SR333 for $250 . It's got 6 HDMI inputs compared to the Denon's 4, and it will pass through a 4K signal so it'll support that stuff if at some point in the future you get 4K-capable devices.

I know that this is about double your budget, but it's got a metric shit-ton of features and is fairly future-ready for a decent price: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Home/AV-R…

You have 7.2 surround, 4K and 3D output, AirPlay, more inputs than you know what to do with, dual sub pre-outs, multi-room output and bi-amping for when you start to get fancy. I just recently bought a similar amp (different model #s in Canada) and what I found was that the ratio of features to price was basically impossible to beat.

Something that's closer to your price range is this Sony: http://store.sony.com/5.2-ch.-4k-a-v…

We had a 7.1 Sony in a room at my grandmother's house until it got hit by lightning. Lightning passed to it through the HDMI connection to the Xbox 360, which caught it like the herp from the ethernet connection. And yet, the 360's S-def output somehow survived. Cheeky bugger.

I just recently bought this Onkyo system. My favorite thing is the amount of HDMI inputs and how they have corresponding labeled button on the face of the receiver, makes it way easier for my girlfriend to switch between the cable box, xbox, pc, and blu ray.

The sound is really great, I went from a soundbar to this and it's great.

Nice, I've heard a lot of support for Onkyo so far. I have a nice set of Paradigm speakers that I spent about $1500 on a few years ago so I'm set there. Just need a new "brain".

If you're already set up there, have a look at this one, same features essentially and it looks like it just about at your budget. That bluetooth is great in the house too, I've had it for a long time in my car and having it in the house hooked up to something better than an alarm-clock is real cool.
