I've been picking up Hot Wheels cars that I like/appreciate/lust after for about a year now, just for office decoration, really. I changed jobs and no longer have an office of my own, so I took the cars back to my apartment. A few weeks ago, I finally figured out what to do with them.

Kinja'd!!!

By ordering some small neodymium magnets and some Kragle (Krazy Glue) from Amazon, I was able to spruce up my empty refrigerator. I doubt this is an original idea, but it's easy and fairly cheap to do.

I have them arranged by country, then alphabetized manufacturer, then by model year, newest first. I drew some flags with markers I had lying around, but I think I'm going to replace the drawings with just some cheap flag magnets. Anyway, from left to right:

USA

Chevrolet Corvette C7 Convertible

DeLorean DMC-12

UK

Aston Martin One-77

Aston Martin DB5

Lotus Evora

Lotus Esprit

Italy

Alfa Romeo 8C

Ferrari F12

Ferrari 458 Convertible

Ferrari 458 Italia

Ferrari F430

Ferrari 612

Ferrari Enzo

Ferrari F40

Lamborghini Aventador J

Lamborghini Estoque

Lamborghini Reventon

Lamborghini Countach

Pagani Huarya

Japan

Mazda Furai

Mazda RX-7 FB

Nissan 510 Wagon

Nissan Skyline

Toyota Celica

Toyota 2000GT

Germany

BMW M3

Porsche 911 RSR

I'm going to put together a detailed how-to for this, with some stuff I've learned along the way. That will probably be up tomorrow. Enjoy!

I'm not ashamed to say that I own most of those cars. You have some I don't and I have some that you didn't mention. I never thought of turning them into magnets though. How well do they hold?

The neodymium magnets are super strong! There are some other elements to consider, like the car's ride height and the thickness of the magnet you're using, but I haven't had any problems with the cars moving away from where they should be.

I'll go over those different factors in my follow-up post.

Thanks! I figured it's so easy I'd share so more people can display their automotive tastes.

May as well! It'd be a good place to update when the fridge has more cars on it.

This is awesome! I might do this with some of my toddler's Hot Wheels. He loves playing with magnets, and cars. I may not have a desk job soon as well, so I may do it with some of my own collection.

Wait....but this would mean the thicker magnet stuck to the bottom would render the wheels useless.

How about Hot Wheels - Kragle - Velcro - Magnet - Fridge?

Not necessarily so! Stay tuned for my detailed post for more information on this point in particular.
