...and put a four-cylinder engine in it. I would obviously use one of the later models with the emissions-choked engine, but I would want to put a SR20DET in to be as ridiculous as possible.
Anyways, post ridiculous engine swaps that piss people off.

Not uncommon, but I know Porschefiles cringe at the thought of LS-swapped 911's.

RB26 or go home.

I want to see the reactions when someone takes an LS 911 to a Porsche meet. Or even better, a Porsche track day.

20B. Because rotors.

I've heard of people replacing the 2JZ in their Supras with V8s.

I want the FA20F from a WRX, tune it up a bunch, and throw it in a 944. Why? Because I think it would be hilarious.
Real engine swaps that have been done? I've heard LS engines in RX-7s make people cry.

That's a way to piss off two fanboy groups at once, actually.
On the same note, remember the RB26-swapped first gen Mustang? Remember the reactions? Yeah, that's what I'd expect with a RB Corvette.

View from above.

Rotary C5, to do a reverse of the LS-swapped RX-7s.

Were I to do that to a 'Vette I'd keep it in the family and throw in the 2.0 Turbo Ecotec from the Cobalt SS. Adapting it to RWD would be easy because the same basic engine was used in the Solstice/Sky, so a transmission from one of those should bolt right up.

Removing a rebuild-able rotary is a crime worthy of death, unless it is going into something else.

I bet you could convince a Porsche purist that a FA20 swapped 944 is still spiritually safe—partially because it's a 944, but also because at least you're using a boxer engine too.
I wouldn't do the LS RX-7 myself, but I don't hate the idea. The RX-7 drivetrain is great fun (and the FD has the looks too), but not many people really want to deal with the hassles of rotary maintenance.

You would be basically making a '70s version of a Solstice. Which isn't a bad idea at all.

I don't know, I actually kind of like the idea. Done right it could actually fix a lot of the stupid of a '78 'Vette. The handling could go from shit upgraded to crap.

I kind of remember an epic shitstorm in online comments because HOTROD featured a 69 Camaro with a 2JZ swap.

Eh, you might be right. Still, it could be a fun rally car.

I would swap in a 3.8 supercharged v6.

Isuzu 4JB1T into SVO Mustang, install ecoboost badges, then go roll coal.
Volvo 2.3t from 850r into first gen viper. Make jokes about how it only runs on half of its cylinders.
Atlas 4.2 into e36 m3. Because I6.
Air cooled VW into 996 or 997. Really, what's the difference?
