I always thought is was one lovely looking car. A neighbor had one when I was in college. When we found out she totaled it, the men on the block were horrified. It looks like such a great platform for a restomod.

Looks like a 240 that's missing several windows, seats, and with a landau top.

As I said, a great platform for modding. Just gotta strip the "landau roof".

My parents had a chance to buy one just like this when I was 3. The dealer wouldn't budge on their ridiculous price, so they didn't buy it. No one bought it. It sat at the dealer for over 10 years and was there until the dealer closed. I guess it was scrapped. We tried to buy again in the final years, but they wanted 5k for it not running.

Never liked these. I thought the standard 2 door on which the car was based looked better. I think David E. said it looked like someone dropped it on its roof.

Ironically that is exactly why I liked it, the thing made no logical sense. Who at Bertone thought that a California style roof chop was the hot tip for a Volvo?

I understand - you can understand the hot designer touch applied to, say, an Alfa, but a Volvo? For the longest time it looked like they had no design department. And that's why my first car was a 142 - so basic.
