DAT MIATA WITH HARDTOP

dude, feast your eyes on the most generous legal parking space known to man. It's a parallel spot with perpendicular spots on either side, everything separated by huge buffers
![]() 11/11/2014 at 22:27 |
|
Easy.. Back out of the spot just out of the camera frame on the left, and then drop my iphone and reach down to grab it while stabbing the accelerator and then ramming your Miata up onto the curb.
That is a nice spot, but peoples' (especially college kids') parking lot driving skills are atrocious !
![]() 11/11/2014 at 22:27 |

Goddamn Miata drivers, the think everything is a spot.
![]() 11/11/2014 at 22:27 |

...tree falls on it

I'm enacting this scenario in my head but keep getting lost
I'll readily agree though that college kids are awful drivers. Worse than high school.

Is there not a row of parked cars to the left of the photo (out of frame) ? I just imagine Suzy the Sewing Arts Major backing out of her spot and forgetting which is the 'stop' pedal. BOOM.
There were always the few choice spots at the universities I attended, but they were not accident free by any means.
![]() 11/11/2014 at 23:05 |

Oh, I see now. I forget if there are cars there or not; yes, there's another row of perpendicular spots on the other side but it's interrupted by driveways and curbed-off clusters of trees... can't remember if there are cars directly across from me or not.

I'll get a pick of the equivalent spot on my campus tomorrow, it puts yours to shame. There's always one of two cars in it, we'll see which one is there tomorrow. Both will make any jalop weak in the knees though.

I look forward to it.

A Chevy Cobalt Coupe can door ding anything within five feet.
![]() 11/12/2014 at 02:04 |

Yikes, no one man should have that much range. My dad's Civic coupe (8th gen) was a lot like that too.
![]() 11/12/2014 at 02:33 |

This seems to only ever be present in coupes with back seats. One time I beached the passenger door of a ZL1 on grass — it was parked on the side of the street. Oops...

I'd do it if my parking pass wasn't on my car.

Of course, they are day drunk in college.

On my campus, there's this one spot that is completely on its own, surrounded by curbs, next to a giant tree. There's always one of two cars parked in it and I assume they are the same person. The beauty you see above is there about half the time and has an awesome vanity plate of '1nine75'. It's one of the cleanest examples I've ever seen. The other car that sometimes occupies it is a VERY clean, all black, NSX.

Doesn't parking under a tree result in a lot of tree crap on the car (i.e. sap, leaves, seed pods, etc.)?
![]() 11/12/2014 at 15:01 |
|
I haven't seen any on either car, it's an Oak tree. I'm sure if it were an issue the owner wouldn't be parking under it with how well the rest of the car is taken care of.

Yeah, but that washes off. Dore dings don't.

Best spot at work: in a garage full of narrow spaces in long rows, each floor has one spot that has walls on both sides, where neither inattentive secretaries in Honda crossovers nor patrician financiers in leased S-classes can ding my doors.
![]() 11/12/2014 at 15:19 |

Actually I don't think that is a 75, it looks more like a 77+.
![]() 11/12/2014 at 15:19 |

Damn, nailed it.
That's the most Jalop-safe public parking spot in the world

Man that is one clean Cutlass. I love G-bodies.

I honestly couldn't tell you... is there a distinguishing factor? I can take a look next time I walk by.

So true.
![]() 11/12/2014 at 15:29 |

75's look nothing like that. I had a 78 and bought a 75 for it's engine/tranny and they looked nothing alike.
That looks more like my 78

Fair point...all I know is that in the fall the maples in my neighborhood dump more leaves and helicopter seed pods than I can handle. They get everywhere, and if it rains, they get sticky.
![]() 11/12/2014 at 15:30 |

Ah okay. I wonder what the rational behind the plate is then.
![]() 11/12/2014 at 15:31 |

I retract all my statements, the plate says '1nine79'. My memory is lacking today.

E36 coupe doors are deceptively long as well.

ahh well that explains it!

Next time, park facing the other way so that you're not exiting the car into a forest. You're not going to go to class with dirty shoes, are you?
![]() 11/12/2014 at 18:35 |
|
Wow, that truly is an asylum for cars. Do the same two cars always get it it just because they get there the earliest?
![]() 11/12/2014 at 18:36 |
|
tight but safe!
![]() 11/12/2014 at 18:37 |

Good point. Although if I park this way, I can leave the lot without turning around.
![]() 11/12/2014 at 19:00 |
|
Or you could do leave the parking lot like a man:

I like the way you think

It's just in the commuter parking section between the art building and the engineering building, so I guess it is just a timing thing. I've seen one of the two in it just about every day and they're always here before I am.

As I mentioned in another comment, I believe any coupe with back seats always have wide opening doors, no matter how long or short the doors may be.

Don't challenge the morons of the world. They'll find a way
