I wonder sometimes what performance this plane would have had if the wings were fixed and of lower aspect, like F-15 wings. Less weight from no hinged backbone or hydraulic and compensation systems. Less maintenance. I wonder how much better it could have been.

It would have been an F-15 then, so F-15 performance-ish.

It's a really big airplane though. Even without the swing wings it'd still be big and heavy, so landing speeds would have probably been unreasonably high for carrier ops.

Haha, not at all, kidnappers couldn't handle me, I'm too annoying! I may not always have something worth posting, but I actually check Oppo everyday. This community is still the best one around

debatable. Read a really good book, "Boyd" about the father of the modern fighter jet as well as tactics. The 14 was gold plated.
