Wow, fighting Rommel through North Africa and entrenched forces in Italy. They'd need that ironsides moniker.
My gramps used to tell a story about evacuating wounded during the battle of the bulge (maybe from St. Vith?). He and his driver zipped along one of the raised roads out of town with Germans on one side shooting back and forth with the Americans on the other. Made it through with only a bullet hole in their spare jerry can.
