The end is near.
My favorite band of all time is on their final tour. What started in 1998 out as an adventure between five high school friends in a town of less than 26,000 in Winter Haven, Florida became a 12-year masterpiece under the name Anberlin. They've happily decided to burn out bright.
anberlin.com to see which locations they are playing at on the East Coast of the US before December 1st.
Yahoo! x Live Nation will be live-streaming their Irving Plaza show in 2 days. (link below. Don't miss it.)
I saw them on DC for the second and last time on Saturday... after growing up listening to their music. I'm hoping to get away to NY next week to grab tickets at the door.
I can't describe the music. It evolved from a spiritually-sensitive punk into a dynamic and highly-technical alternative rock. For the view of you who may remember the
Feel Good Drag
on MTV, Anberlin's sound is essentially what you would get if Coldplay was a teenage punkrocker-Radiohead fan, friends with 30 Seconds to Mars... and now is in Grad school (which the frontman was in last year.) This music is eclectic, passionate, angry, sincere, loving and questioning, all at once. Do yourself and buy their two most recent albums,
Lowborn (2014)
and
Devotion, (2013)
on iTunes, et. al now. You won't regret putting this highly intellectual, passionate, and cultured- quality rock music in your library. Stephen Christian's angelic voice is matched by the fury and creativity of his band.

WHY DO YOU STAY UNTIL YOU SEE BLOOD
If you haven't, you should check out my favorite band Yellowcard , and their new album. Nate did the drumming for it!

"Over the years, many fans, critics, and other members of the media have consistently characterized Anberlin as a Christian band. However, Stephen Christian stated in an interview that their faith is more complicated than a simple label: "I think we're categorized like that a lot because we're on Tooth & Nail Records , which, years ago, was known as a Christian label and never lost that reputation. I don't care who listens to our records. If it helps people in whatever circumstances they're in, that's amazing, but I definitely don't classify us as a Christian band." [56] Elsewhere, Christian has remarked, "[My faith] affects every single aspect of my life, but I'm not a preacher, I'm an entertainer."

It needs a music video involving cars and bandits.

Have you heard of Acceptance? I think a few (or singular, not quite sure) members from Anberlin were a part of it. That was canceled as well, really great though.

Yep, Christian McAlhaney plays guitar and some backup singing in Anberlin, was the lead singer and guitarist for Acceptance. Not sure what songs he is on though, he was only part of the band for a little bit, after the lead singer, Jason Vena, decided to leave. Twas a sad day. Their song Permanent will always be one of my favorites. Sucks that Anberlin is leaving too. I have a friend who saw them last year, good thing he saw them then because all the shows around us are completely sold out.

I never got into them, tried but just couldn't. Actually, in the lasts 8 years or so really haven't liked a lot of bands that were/are signed to Tooth & Nail, for some reason a lot of my musical tastes go back to heavier T&N and Solid State bands from between 1999 and 2005.
