The last thing I purchased new was this 2012 KX250F...Walked into the showroom, pointed at it and said I want that one. Signed some papers, coughed up some money and took it home. Once in my garage, I sat in my there and had a few beers staring at it in amazement. I miss that feeling.
The bike is now long gone after about ~100 hours of seat time. It was time to sell it before I put more money into it and I was going to purchase another new one this spring until we found out we had a baby on the way....I will have something brand new in a few weeks, just won't be another dirt scooter....

Why did you sell it so soon? The thing was still basically new.

Eh, MX dirt bikes are funny. They're expensive to fix and don't last that long. Getting 100 hours without having to rebuild the top end is rare on a 4 stroke MX bike. The value also drops significantly after 1-2 years as they become outdated in the racing world. I was able to get a decent amount of money for the bike where if I had it a year later, I would get a couple thousand less. My plan was to purchase a 2013 this spring.

Well a 250 makes what, 30-40 hp? They're pure racing motors, of course they're high maintenance. Did you race it?

I raced a few times...Mostly just went to open practices every weekend. I did a lot of maintenance to get that many hours out of it. But the cost of head refurb is about $3k and after a few years, the bike is only worth about that much.
