Has anyone here owned/currently owned an MGB GT? If there's anyone here, could you tell me more about them? Like how reliable it is, ease of fixing, and how they drive and stuff.
K, thanks

I saw a guy at Best Buy with one. Seems they're prone to vapor locking pretty bad. It took him a while to get going.

I have a friend with an MBA and another one with an MGB. Lovely cars that they say are fun to drive. That said, there is always something to fix. Always. If you buy a reasonably nice one I would expect to put 25% or more back into it for repairs.

The engine isn't bad but lacks a bit of power with it's 90 (or so) bhp. Several friends have/had MGB (GT)s and they all have one thing in common: They're English. So expect (small) things to go wrong. A lot. But most of it is easy to fix. Rust can be a big issue depending on where you live of course.
The drive is nice but again: It lacks power. On twisty bends, driving 40-60 miles, they're fun. On highways you're probably too spoiled already to enjoy them really.

a trend had one for 6months and its fun to drive although a bit bouncy/wobbly( could have just been his car). They're a good car in general, but they require occasional tinkering. If you want one go for it but expect to be working on it more often than you would like to admit.
you will have fun driving it(once you fixed it) its never boring and always fun in the wet. Low power and a open diff mean its possible to get sideways but I wouldn't recommend it lol. Oh and get a swear jar, its needed and helps fund future repairs.
overall a brilliant car with so much character you will never get bored driving but it can be frustrating to own if you don't know what your doing.

My dad had this car, well not a GT but a roadster same car, when they were new and always has a nightmare level ownership story about it lol.
Generally if you like a car like this from this era buy a 240Z or other S30 Datsun. If you are really mechanically inclined then and only then buy the MG. The other earlier car Nissan made, the Datsun Roadster, would also be a better buy and ownership experience.
My dad's friend had a 240Z and one thing he said after one of my dad's stories is how when he turned the key the car immediately started up. Not so much for my dad's MG. Plus it was also only a 2 digit horsepower car and the L24 is significantly more powerful. My dad til this day wishes he bought the 240
