I was driving home from work in rural-ish North Carolina when I saw one of these in eggplant purple drive by. I immediately got to thinking... who the hell was so moved by this Accord SH-AWD that they felt compelled to drop $50-60 large on a new one? This thing's got about as much flavor as a bowl of water soup, and the Genesis sedan looks similar but better and has way more character for about $10K less. Heck, the honest-to-God 5.0 comes in at about $5K more than the base Accord SH-AWD, and of course has a V8 and RWD in NASCAR town
So what other cars have you seen that make you wonder... "who the hell bought that new???"

Someone who leased it for six months on someone else's money, probably.

Why? Prius is a good car. Not a FUN car, but a good car for someone who doesn't care about driving and wants low maintenance with high tech.

Who the hell would buy that new?

Like I said, people who don't care bout driving and want low maintenance, high tech, green cred and high fuel efficiency. Seems pretty obvious. Try again.

I don't know why you're being so snobbish... It's a good car.

I'm going with the BR-Spec beigemobile (a.k.a. Camry).
Not only it is one of the ugliest cars for sale, it also costs terribly expensive... To give an idea, it coasts R$150,000 brand new, while a much nicer Fusion Titanium 2.0 Ecoboost coasts R$99,000.

too obvious really

Honestly? My own car, 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis. I have the original window sticker even though I only bought the car 8 months ago, mine went for $35,700 and it doesn't have the Ultimate Package, air suspension, or heated front seats.

That is a lot. I had no clue they went for that much. Our Impala, though a base model with the sport appearance pack, was only like 19k in 2005.

It's a good car. Is it a good $45K car?

Yeah, I certainly wouldn't pay that much. I believe in 2007 Crown Vics started around $22k, you could get a base GS Grand Marquis for $25k, and the LS Grand Marquis started at $29k.

No clue who walks on to a lot, sees the Crosstour and hands their money to someone for one.
