The trans died on a long test drive. I'm now stranded, waiting for AAA and the seller isn't answering their phone

Well fuck.

See if it's low on fluid.

Offer $300 to take it away.

Perhaps an appropriate price (40, 50 bucks?) might be negotiated.

You break it you buy it.

Yea but you are assuming there was fluid in there. It could also be going into the radiator if the cooler cracked.

Well fuck.

![]() 11/07/2014 at 19:04 |

there is almost no coolant in the resivoir. That's the sellers fault
![]() 11/07/2014 at 19:04 |

AAA? Call uber. You just need to get back to your ride and leave the keys.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 19:05 |

Shit.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 19:15 |

Well, that's a nice how-do-you-do. Have they answered back yet?
![]() 11/07/2014 at 19:23 |

Wow! That's either a 904 or 998. You have work hard to hurt those.
Tell the seller you'll take it for free. To cover the inconvenience.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 19:32 |

It's an A998 derivative.

Come on, putting a new trans in a $400 AWD wagon builds character.
Also, you sound weird.

Luckily it happened before you bought it!

But will it knee??
![]() 11/07/2014 at 20:23 |

Cool steering wheel though.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 20:51 |

Oh my god, yes. I loved that wheel, It had a tilt column too.

Looks suspiciously like the steering wheel on my Jeep, with the centers of the spokes milled out, plus added wrap which I pulled off mine for a cleaner look. Good old AMC. The Eagle likely also has the same GM Saginaw tilt column my Jeep does, as well.
Unfortunately that's the best pic I can find of it. Believe it or not, that's actually the interior of a 300,000 mile Jeep.
Sucks about that tranny. Beyond that, is it in decent shape? You could always try to argue down the price a whole bunch, and fix it... (I really like Eagles, and it would be nice to know it's in good hands...)

It was in otherwise excellent condition. I could have haggled down, but I dont have the time to fix the tranny. Im a full time student. That tilt collumn for some reason was hilarious to me. If I had it at the lowest point and went over a bump, I would likely be neutered.

Tranny swaps are easier than you'd think. It was honestly the easiest part of swapping out the flexplate on my Jeep. Remove flexplate inspection cover and unbolt flextplate from torque converter, undo tranny lines, unbolt driveshafts, unbolt tranny crossmember, drop tranny with jack a little ways, unbolt bellhousing from engine block, move tranny back and drop rest of way. Install is reverse of removal.
A couple times with the Jeep I did drop the wheel all the way, gave me a racecaresque feel. I'm taller though, so my seat's too far back for neutering.

Oh I realize that, I just dont have the time with school. I would have bought it and done a manual swap if I had time to do that
