Start thinking of questions to ask.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 15:29 |

Why?
![]() 11/07/2014 at 15:30 |

Mark VIII, 4.6L, that could be an epic sleeper.

It would appear there are two statements in the above post. Asking "Why?" seems kind of stupid without differentiating which one you're asking about.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 15:31 |

That's why I wanted to drive it.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 15:33 |

Maybe do a quick Oppositelock review of it?
![]() 11/07/2014 at 15:34 |

Not asking why I should come up with questions. The question why pertains to everything about this car. Why are you driving it? Why didn't you walk? Were you forced in at gunpoint?
![]() 11/07/2014 at 15:34 |

I was never good at those :/

Big, comfortable, V8 cruiser. I don't know why I'd want to drive it.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 15:36 |

Why?
![]() 11/07/2014 at 15:36 |
|
Oh I thought you bought it, just taking it for the night?
![]() 11/07/2014 at 15:37 |
|
Why would you need any of those things to convince you to get into a RWD V8 that no one sees coming?
![]() 11/07/2014 at 15:38 |
|
Indeed. It's just out on our lot. Needs to be driven. All alone, away from it's original owner for the first time.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 15:39 |

Cuz, cuz.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 15:39 |

Give it a shot :)

My closest car nut friend in college had a maroon one which he actually let me drive...it was a sweet car, but his experience exposes several problems they commonly had. First, he had the rear air suspension fail, and replaced it with coils...I remember distinctly the first time he gave me a ride that he had undertorqued the strut mounts, causing pogoing and an alarming clatter from the back (fixed later, but what a first impression). And of course, the transmissions in these cars weren't designed for the power of the 32V engine...his gave out and he eventually traded the car under Cash for Clunkers on (of all things) a Stage 2 Chevy HHR SS.

I wish they had made these with a stick.

These things have a self leveling suspension when they get to speed.
They get lower the faster you go.
I worked on one over the summer, it was a lot more complicated/sophisticated than I expected.
Pretty nice car actually, but they have a lot of shit to go wrong with them.

That would have made a sweet car. I remember looking at a Mark VII with a Mustang 5-speed conversion when I was buying my grad school car...it was really unfortunate how much of a basket case the car was, including the modifications.

HOLY FUCK IT'S A PORSCHE 959
No but seriously I'm gonna take the interstate home tonight, now that I know that.

I'd do it if I didn't have so many other projects. This car is pretty clean.

Niiiceeee, Looks pretty clean.

I Oppo Review'd a lame Toyota Corolla using stock photos. Even if the writing isn't all that great, any and all Oppo Reviews are fun to read AND write! :)

Will you hoon it?

I have a thing for big coupes...the Mark VIII, later supercharged Buick Riviera, Lexus SC...but the only one that had a manual out of the box was the SC300, and that was not easy to find. The one I've driven most though was a 2005 Honda Accord V6 6MT, and the transmission more than made up for the power deficit from the Mark.

Not mine, don't really wanna.

I like luxobarges regardless of doors, I really miss my Benz.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 15:55 |

Do you plan to fix the air suspension in advance, or wait until it breaks next week?
![]() 11/07/2014 at 15:58 |
|
Neither.

I've loved Mk VIIIs since they first debuted. Always thought it would be fun to have one. I still look for them every once in a while...

This one's for sale.

NH is a bit of a haul from OH, despite the single letter difference.
Also, no spare cash to speak of at the moment, nor spare garage space.

Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 16:40 |

I remember when these launched. It was such NOT a Mark VII LSC, but it was cool.
Does it sit down after a while?
![]() 11/07/2014 at 16:41 |

Boo, indeed. I do envy you for the evening/weekend/whatever, though.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 16:43 |

Just tonight.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 16:43 |

The suspension? I dunno, haven't driven it yet. Waiting to get off work.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 18:35 |

The Mark VIII... Closest thing we'll ever get to a 2-door panther. Much respect!
![]() 11/07/2014 at 19:06 |

Sucks that it's a first gen but Mark 8 is a Mark 8, especially if it's rust free. You got yourself a Teksid block. Now swap some Cobra heads and a blower on it.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 19:16 |
|
Not my car, but I actually like the gen 1s better. It is a fun car, though.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 19:16 |

I'm just a salesman who took it home for the night.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 19:21 |
|
Yeah, but you're still gonna have a pretty gangster ride for the next 12-24 hours!
![]() 11/07/2014 at 19:41 |
|
If I didn't have so many projects going I'd do a trans swap, Cobra heads and a blower.

Not a question, but a suggestion. Find a patch of dry pavement, manually shift down to 1st, ROMP ON IT, hit 2nd gear around 5900RPM, enjoy the soothing sounds of tire chrip. It's a wonder that my '93 survived through high school.

Do you feel an extra level of pimp'n? Could it be termed Pimptacular even?

Very.
