I expressed my usual bike opinion is all: I would love a bike, but the risk/reward balance of riding one on the street is not at a place I can accept right now. I would love a dirt bike, specifically a Dualsport in the 250-400 range or a trials bike, but that's such a toy that its impossible to justify. Empty highways, or a more rural, slow paced commute would get me on the roads.

Honestly, I personally don't encourage people to ride. If they want to, good for them, if not, they've got a reason (stupid or not) and I don't care enough to talk them into it. Not like I need to recruit bikers to somehow validate my own reasons for riding.

I personally think that you can get whatever the hell you want as a first bike. I wouldn't recommend a fast bike, but I wouldn't be bothered that somebody who I'll never meet bought a BMW R Nine T as their starter bike.

Dont get me wrong, there are worse bikes to start off with....but a 15K+, 110HP BMW as a first?

smh

Not a dig at you or anyone else, but I feel no need to get other people into riding just to spread the word that it's cool or whatever and therefore I'm cool by association. Mainly saying the "I'd go too fast and kill myself" comments are indeed lame but I have no desire to show them the error of their ways.

I try to get people into because I think its fun...forget the cool factor...and its cheaper then cars, and it frees up traffic...and its fun to ride with buddies.

Honestly, I have no idea where this validating my own reasons stuff came out off.

I literally said it was not a dig at you, nor do I believe that's your motivation for getting people into it. It "came out off" my own reasons for not talking others into riding. Chill.
