It is. I think it kills whatever bastard bacteria/virus is beating up your throat. It'll also make you sweat quite a bit. But I've always felt a lot better after eating one.

My wife made some cheese quesadillas with a few pickled jalapeño slices last night and I can't believe it, but I feel a lot better. Pretty tasty way to kick ass!
