For those who don't understand Malay, they're talking about using spirits and magic (my rough translation) to heal diseases. Why, yes, I suspect a lot of people here are unhappy about being in the 21st century...

It is sufficiently batshit insane that I have trouble believing it. I'm told that it is completely real, though.

It exists because people are stupid and desperate and are willing to believe in and/or try anything to fix a problem.

I actually feel sadness more-so than scorn towards those people that fall for these obvious scams. These assholes usually prey on people that have run out of options; those with inoperable tumors or incurable diseases.

Don't feel bad, here in America we have powerful politicians who not only don't believe in evolution, but are willing to do whatever it takes to get the teaching of evolution or other aspects of science that they don't approve of taken out of the classroom.

In the grand old secular state of 'Merica we had a candidate who literally said she was running for office because God told her to do it. Directly. She's the leader of her own caucus in congress now.

For a second, I thought you said couscous.

Then I thought that it might actually be believable.
